All of the exhibits were the property of Alexandre Le Grand, who made his fortune as the entrepreneur who resurrected Dom Vencelli’s recipe for Benedictine, some three hundred years later. The recipe had been secreted in an old family recipe book for safekeeping during the French revolution, and Alexandre’s mother passed down the book to him, he took up the challenge of recreating the brew, to much success.
I fell in love with quite a few pieces of Alexandre Le Grand’s collection, especially his locks and keys.
I don’t know which material pleased my aesthetic sense more, the wood or the stone, it is so hard to choose when the craftmanship is so exquisite.
I will not forget this intriguing and very beautiful sight, not for a very long time.
