Boston, Chinese food, hotel, postaday2013, Sunday

Another Sunday getaway for my hubby and myself. This time we aren’t in the heart of Boston, we are in the outlying town of Saugus near my hubby’s other offices. It doesn’t change the fact that we are still together near Boston and having fun. Jack and the baby girl, along with the baby boy, are holding down the fort at home. I don’t know who I worry about more, the children or the little guy Jack. My human babies tell me constantly that Jack is lost without me, he loves them and they know it, but according to them, Jack looks sad and looks for me while I’m away. I worry about my two feeding themselves, feeling lonely and alone and other silly things that mothers everywhere worry about no matter how old their children are, as in my case, two young adults.

I see from my own mother, that worrying about your children just simply never goes away, even when they are at the ripe old age of 46. It is just an inescapable part of being a parent, the constant worrying no matter how smart your child is and how responsible they are, you will worry and that is it, end of story.

I honestly believe that during high school they should offer classes on parenting and the permanence of the job and the responsibilities and emotional investment that do not expire after a certain date. The ties that bind do not get severed until the day you no longer draw breath in this life. I think that these classes would go a long way to decreasing the rates of teen pregnancy that we have in the country. I know that in our case at home, my best friend took my baby girl with her whenever she had to baby-sit her two granddaughters and that was a golden opportunity to teach my daughter exactly how difficult taking care of babies actually is, instead of romanticizing how cute and cuddly they are, she learned how long they can cry, how often they create smelly diapers and how easily your world is no longer your own and they must be the center of your attention and focus. That for a young teen gets old.

I owe my best friend a lot for her patience and kindness taking my baby girl along. She always says that my baby girl was so much help so that it was a win, win for everyone. If only more young people had that luxury.

Lazy Sunday

postaday2012, Sunday

Today was a glorious lazy Sunday, I didn’t really do anything aside from taking care of the dogs, a baby girl who is feeling somewhat under the weather, I hope that it isn’t the pesky virus that has been afflicting so many people recently, it resembles the flu a bit. Other than that, my hubby and I took our lunch outside by the pool, the baby girl was sleeping and Rex was watching over her. Jack was with us doing his hunting thing. The weather has come back to normal, warm during the day and cool at night. Time lost all meaning today, while we were eating by the pool, my hubby looked at his watch, I never wear mine, and he said “honey it’s 4:30 already” he said it in a bittersweet way because that meant that Sunday was winding down. We definitely enjoy Saturdays, but Saturdays get chock full of errands and activities, that Sunday has really become the day of rest but the resting day goes by too fast. Even at 45 years of age, well almost, I still don’t understand how days that you want to enjoy race by so quickly and other days that don’t matter, proceed nice and slowly. Why can’t it be the other way around?

Huffington Post, postaday2012, Sunday, Tudors

Today was a rather nice day of rest and relaxation, put the kitchen and the dining room back to rights after last night’s merriment. This morning I had a nice light breakfast, read my emails and the Huffington Post, made a couple of comments in reference to Mitt Romney and his presidential campaign, I wrote a few pages for my book and then I watched a few shows that I had tivo’d and today was the perfect day to play catch up with my television viewing especially now that the holiday season is over and the actors are back on set and back to work filming my shows. I mean the nerve of t.v stars to take time off, they are on t.v for goodness sakes isn’t that enough for them, they need vacations as well?

Right now I am watching the Tudors on BBC-America, King Henry VIII is in mourning over the loss of his Queen Jane Grey though he is happy to have a son, his daughter from his first marriage, poor Princess Mary is waiting for a boyfriend and all the nobles are playing their games amongst each other. Oliver Cromwell is alive for the moment and he is pushing King Henry to marry once again for the sake of the baby Prince Edward. France is staying neutral for the moment, it is King Francois the 1st who is the ruler of France and he is occupied elsewhere for the moment. Princess Elizabeth is still a little girl at this time so we don’t see her much.

I noticed that I have said, for the moment, several times while describing what is happening on The Tudors. King Henry VIII was very volatile as a ruler and he was quick to get rid of his Queens, consorts, advisers and ministers. So during an episode a character could be alive and healthy in the beginning and be either ill or dead by the end of the same episode or during the course of the next episode. It is the volatility that necessitated my use of the phrase, for the moment. Nevertheless, I really like the series, it might not be 100% historically accurate but the acting is superb and it seems that the producers have kept an attention to detail that leads you to believe that they did as much research as they could.

All in all, I would say that this was a really good day.
