Bob Nichols:

Look where I found Jack right after the little storm when I got back from work

Laurie Nichols:

Pauvre Jack, il a besoin d’un calin  translation- poor Jack, he needs a hug 😦

Laurie Nichols:

Ou est Lulu? Elle a besoin d’un calin?

translation- where is Lulu? Does she need a hug?

Bob Nichols;

Nah, she is outside running around in the rain, she’s fine.

Really!? More snow?!

postaday2015, shovel, snow, storms

I am so bad, the reason that I took pictures of my husband shoveling snow in front of my mother’s house isn’t because he never shovels, but because he told us that he had shoveled this morning and when we went outside there wasn’t any sign that he had shoveled, so my mother and I couldn’t help but tease him mercilessly “likely story”. My mother then said that next time he shovels he should get photographic evidence. So here it is, his proof that he had indeed shoveled, it is coming down relentlessly harder and stronger by the minute, I give it a half hour before everything that he has done has been erased.

Winter release us from your harsh grip already!!!!

We are running out of room

Where are we going to put the snow once this snow storm is ended and the one on Thursday erupts around us once again? It is getting a little scary backing out of our driveway; I had to do so today and thankfully my husband was there to let me know if anyone was coming. We are going to have to figure something out. Our kids helped a bit despite the bone chilling 16 degrees outside, we worked as a team clearing the snow away from both driveways and the walkways.

Jack was very happy to supervise from the warmth of the kitchen; he had no intention of going outside. We took him outside for all of a minute and his little paw went up and he looked at me with his deep brown eyes “take me in Maman, it isn’t weather fit for man or beast!”

I can’t tell you how wonderful it is to be sitting in the living room with a roaring fire warming us up from the toes to the fingers. It was especially brutal outside, not only from the low temperatures but the fierce wind that wouldn’t let up while we were moving snow.

Not looking forward to another round on Thursday

humid, ominous, postaday2013, storms, writing

The skies have been dark all day with the air hanging heavy, it has felt as if something is going to pop since noon. By two o’clock the humidity was palpable, you could smell it in the air. The rains hiding in the clouds were announcing their arrival while still teasing about what time I should expect the deluge to happen.

What was amusing is that for all the talk about how cool spring has been, the first day of heat and humidity didn’t bring any joy, rather, at the post office where our townspeople congregate to discuss the weather, there was quite a bit of complaining.

I love these pictures, you could see the turmoil within and I could imagine the thunder and lightening being fabricated and churned about up there like in Greek mythology. Zeus has hidden in more than his fair share of thunder clouds hiding from Hera. Perhaps Zeus is hiding here in Blandford, good luck Zeus hiding away from Hera.

Here comes the snow again..

Here comes the snow again, falling on my head like a memory, falling on my head like a new emotion.. I am copying the lyrics from the Eurythmics Here Comes the Rain Again. I love Annie Lenox, I’m sure that I messed up the lyrics even without substituting snow for rain. Her voice is so beautiful, rich and powerful.

Last night the northeast got hit with another storm and we got 8 more inches. Tomorrow is spring’s first day and we aren’t going to wake up to spring-like temperatures, we are going to feel more wintry days until at least next Tuesday. Winter white has most definitely worn out its welcome, at least in my book.

Storm Nemo

Tonight we are, according to the weather people, going to get an avalanche of snow here in the Northeast. Batten down the hatches everybody. My baby boy actually came to me in shock over the fact that the authorities determined that anyone caught driving on the roads after 4 p.m would bet arrested and a 500 dollar fine. That is how dangerous the conditions might get out there in Mother Nature land.

Here we are all cuddly with a fire going and some good shows on the t.v. The only thing that could be very bad would be a power outage. Tomorrow the temperatures are going south towards the single digits so I am crossing my fingers that we keep the power.

I don’t know why they choose Nemo as the name of this storm. Captain Nemo was the antagonist in 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea but I would have thought the name Nemo more apropos to a tropical storm, not a blizzard. I guess at this point, it doesn’t really matter what name they give this huge storm. It will be interesting to see just how many inches we will be forced to dig our way out of tomorrow.
