Stanley got to hang out with our son and his girlfriend for the day and boy was he happy. His big puppy face is so adorable when he’s smiling, his smile extends right up to his eyes. I’m back home now, so I have three smiling faces looking at me, Stanley’s big smile won’t stop, he keeps poking me with his paw, telling me to continue with the scratching, he’s a little bossy, lol.
I have to admit that without his goofy smile, Stanley looks a little intimidating, though in my eyes, very handsome.
In this picture, Stanley is channeling our German Shepard Rex, handsome and regal in his own right.

Boy does Stanley have a big head. When he wants a kiss, he isn’t shy about it, especially when papa is eating ice cream, Stanley loves his kisses sweet, lol. Stanley worships my husband, he loves us all, but he is especially attached to my husband which is what I wanted, my husband is the most dog crazy person I have ever met and having a special bond with Stanley makes him so very happy. When our son comes by, Stanley is over the moon, but when our son leaves Stanley doesn’t get sad because he has his papa right where he needs him.
I don’t get jealous at all, Stanley gives me the kind of attention I like, he sits quietly to my side and I pet him for as long as I like, when I’m done, Stanley knows to go lay down. Several times during the day, Stanley comes for his caresses, I give them and we’re both happy. Dogs are amazing, Stanley knows us, he understands our differences and responds appropriately, getting what he needs at that moment from the human most apt to give it.
And yes, Stanley does slobber when he kisses, even when he hugs, he slobbers, towels are a necessity when loving a dog like Stanley.

Jack and Lulu have already been featured in my previous bath time segments, they were well behaved so the post was basically boring, pictures of wet dogs, standing calmly, while being bathed, if it isn’t your dog, how entertaining can that be?
I thought with Stanley’s size, bath time would have been funny, havoc ridden, something out of the ordinary, but no. Stanley took it calmly like his older brother and sister, they would have been proud if they had been in the bathroom. They were outside searching for chipmunks, so they came in after the fact to a wet Stanley. Stanley doesn’t mind being rubbed down, he loves the attention. The only challenge is keeping him inside until he dries off completely, it’s cold outside and we don’t want him to catch anything.

This is the second time he attacked his bed, he is not managing his boredom very well I guess. My husband had sewn the bed back to rights, the damage was barely apparent, he did an exemplary job with his repair. I should mention my husband was an Eagle Scout, so he can do pretty much anything; sew, cook, make a fire in the pouring rain, throw a tent up in seconds and not get lost in a forest, qualities that always serve.
But look at that face, how can anyone get mad at Stanley?

We have never had a puppy like Stanley, he is unique on so many levels, the biggest surprise for us is how fast he is growing, I know I have said it before, but every time we come back from our travels, Stanley has grown at least an inch and a few pounds. What else is unique? The ardor of his affection, with his size comes his super sized hugs and he can overwhelm you with his vigorous physical affection. I’m not complaining, I love Stanley’s hugs, but with his 50 pounds, you need to be prepared when he decides that he wants to wrap his front legs and paws around you. I might start complaining when he tips the scales at 200 pounds. LOL
He also makes us laugh, what’s really funny is when Jack gets uppity and and yells at Stanley right up in his face. Stanley gets all forlorn and ducks his head down, Jack then walks away like a boss, it is too funny.
Our son was walking the dogs in the park, they came across a snowman and Stanley’s reaction, according to our son, was priceless, he was scared and started barking his big boy bark at the snowman, our son had to walk Stanley over to the snowman to show him, it was okay, the snowman wasn’t a bad man, Mister snowman was a good guy. We laughed imagining the whole scene with Jack and Lulu looking on with exasperation at their little brother.
Stanley is a gift, just like Jack is a gift, as well as our beauty lady Lulu. We are so lucky with our trio of dogs.

We still can’t get over how Stanley keeps increasing in size, almost on a daily basis, it is so weird. His breed develops so differently from all of the others we have had over the years. Black Lab, Golden Retrievers, German Shepard, Beagle, Jack Russell and Pitbull, all have sprouted more or less in the same fashion, slowly over the course of a few months. While Stanley here, grows by starts and fits on a weekly basis. He is almost 5 months old, January 5th will be his 5 month old birthday, I can’t believe it, sometimes it is difficult to remember Stanley is still a baby.
He is very cute, our big galumphagus.

We have had Stanley for two months and 10 days, it feels longer and it feels shorter at the same time if that makes any sense, I think it feels shorter because Stanley has grown so quickly in such a short period that we miss our fluffy ball of cuteness we used to hug and cuddle, on the other hand, it feels longer because we can’t imagine our home without him. We took this picture because this is probably the last one I will be able to pull off, Stanley weighs 40 pounds, Lulu weighs 46 pounds and I struggle picking her up whenever I try to put her into our daughter’s room.
This picture was on November 6th, a little over a month ago. He was much lighter.lol
This one was taken on October 24th.
This is the day we brought Stanley into our home and into our hearts.

We took the trio to the vet and had an excellent visit, Jack and Lulu had the last of their annual vaccinations and Stanley had one more puppy checkup and vaccination, his next one is in four weeks. Our vet was pleased with all three of our dogs, though Stanley received the most attention because he’s a fluffy ball of adorableness.
They do love their backyard, our three bundles of canine energy, I love how Stanley has been fully accepted by both Jack and Lulu. Jack has been having the best time wrestling with Stanley and Lulu has lost her awkwardness and timidity towards Stanley, it’s fun to watch.
I can’t stop taking pictures of Stanley, he is too cute and every time I whip out my cell phone, he automatically sits down, so what am I supposed to do, not take a picture?
It was very easy taking the three to the vet, we squeezed them into the back seat of the car and luckily enough when we got to the vet’s, we were sheparded into an examination room almost immediately. It was basically no fuss and no muss, easy as pie. Whew! 😀 lol

Stanley decided he had to be in the picture, not just the pansies, otherwise it wouldn’t be a perfect picture. Stanley our little ham.
Boston hasn’t been informed of the change in seasons, there are flowers all about, the leaves are changing colors and slowly falling, but if you want to see roses, hydrangea and anemones, take a stroll along Atlantic Avenue.
We are taking Stanley back home to Blandford, back to Jack and Lulu, it is obvious he misses them. I have had to play with Stanley full-time without his romping buddies. I miss Jack and Lulu as well, my little monkey and Lulu our affectionate princess, they do help with the baby baby, keeping him occupied and included.
Having older dogs makes having a puppy easier, much like having older siblings for the newborn, you have instant playmates and role models so housetraining and puppyproofing are easier for most everyone involved. Thanks Jack and Lulu!
