I know that Jack and Lulu aren’t puppies, but Stanley at 10 months old still qualifies, actually he will be considered a puppy until he is 3 years old.  That is a very long time of puppy shenanigans if you don’t mind me saying. We have been working with Stanley on his behavior, we’re trying to teach him to be more mindful of his size. We suspect he is still under the impression that he’s Jack’s size, as you can see from the pictures, he left that size a while ago. I personally don’t like to be jumped on, my husband doesn’t mind it, but I do, so I am working on that specific behavior with Stanley, it is work but I feel confident that he will understand Maman doesn’t get jumped on before long. Stanley is smart when he wants to be, more to the point when he feels like listening, he seems to have a stubborn streak because when he wants something, he keeps at it.

Jack is still trying to tunnel his way out of the back, the crazy little man. The hole in the fence way in the back had to be stoned off, but that hasn’t deterred Jack from trying to find a weakness in that area. Jack has even enlisted Stanely’s help in trying to escape, thank goodness Stanley hasn’t complied as of yet, I’m not sure if Stanley just doesn’t understand what Jack wants or if Stanley simply isn’t interested, either way I hope it stays that way. Lol

My sister has become part of the Seeing Eye/Companion dog universe; specifically she has volunteered to be part of the first step of the process. She has agreed to take a pair of new puppies for a total of 6 weekends per year, the puppies come to her at approximately 6 weeks of age and as you can see by the pictures, these puppies are little fatty’s. lol

The sleepyhead’s name is Blondie and the adorable one being hugged by my niece is named Bunny. I think that what my sister is doing is such an amazing thing, not only for herself and her family, but also for the Organization itself. I am sure that the Companion dog Organization enthusiastically accepts whatever help they can get and they fill such an important need in our society. These puppies will grow up to be, not only seeing eye dogs, but also seizure detecting dogs, epilepsy sensing dogs and the list goes on and on.

Moreover, my sister being accepted into the Organization’s fold, means she can follow the puppy’s progress through the training and socialization process. Once they are past a year old, they are introduced to the foster care system where dedicated families do a much more disciplined training and socialization process, this is serious work and I admire these families a lot because they are doing such hard work and not even keeping the dog after all is said and done.

Most importantly, I am very proud of my sister, I so admire what my sister is doing,  it is 6 weekends a year and it is an important piece of the greater picture. I don’t think that I could do it, I would want to keep every puppy coming through my door and I’m sure that the Organization’s people would have to come to my house on a search and rescue mission because after a while, there is nothing left to explain missing puppies, except that they are being held beyond what the agreement originally stated. lol

Youtube and cute puppies

My hubby and I have spent a rare relaxing Sunday together entirely upstairs, reading and writing. The babies are either away at school or working. Jack has divided his time either wrestling with my iPad trying to inch his way onto my lap or wiggling his way onto my hubby’s lap. Either way Jack got his way, some kind of personal contact and that is all he wants, a leg, an arm or a hand and he is happy.

I was flipping through the Huffington Post and went to see what the Comedy section was offering and there they were, two articles featuring cute animal videos.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/03/21/winston-the-tap-dancing-bulldog_n_2924885.html
This is the one that I clicked on and Winston is the cutest bulldog, tap dancing away to his heart’s content. The Youtube website is great because it shows, on the right hand side, clips of similar videos so my hubby clicked on a bulldog puppy video and that completely that grabbed Jack’s attention, the bulldog puppy was barking, growling and then whimpering, just like a baby clamoring for attention and trying out all the sounds to see which one will get him what he wants, attention. Jack kept cocking his head back and forth trying to figure out how to get to the puppy, he even went around the iPad to see where the puppy was lurking. Jack was being just as entertaining as the puppies in those videos.

We watched the marathon of the Viking series that had been produced by the History channel. We both liked it but I was put off by the senseless violence that the Vikings bestowed upon a poor community of pious monks on the English coast when they posed no threat to the Vikings who came to their lands to plunder for gold and other riches. I understood that the Viking culture was one based on raiding other communities, but the other communities were armed and defended themselves, here the monks were defenseless and to see them slaughtered by the Vikings was awful. I am not sure how accurate the producers are with the history but it does make for drama. This is the same channel that has produced The Bible which has been very successful with its viewership, I have watched three episodes and they make for good storytelling.

Later on we are going to watch Once Upon a Time, a modern fairy tale replete with every single Disney character that you can think of, from Snow White to Captain Hook to Pinocchio, this series is one that I really like a lot.

Poor Jack , he really doesn’t appreciate the New England winters, especially this one, since this one is more to the norm than last year’s. We have had snow at least three times, I believe, and pretty frigid temperatures. What prompts me to say poor Jack is despite the fact that his winter coat and his sweaters provide him with a layer of warmth and a barrier against the wind, he still looks all morose whenever I put them on him. It deserves taking a picture simply to capture his forlorn expression on “film”. I have also noticed that in all of his pictures he has an over-sized head in comparison to the rest of him. His head looks like it could tip him over face first onto the ground. He is so cute though and he looks exactly like he did when we first brought him home just twice the size. The little piglet.

I promise you that WordPress is frustrating me with their new media and formatting procedures. I am keeping my patience and I am still learning but it is frustrating nevertheless, so I apologize if you are going to see pictures cutting into text or copies of pictures, this is a work in progress and I shall get there eventually.
