Forsythia peeking out from this winter’s sleep

It’s still real early for forsythia but I couldn’t resist taking pictures of my blossoms. I am disappointed that the closeups aren’t clear and crisp, that’s what you get when you rely on a cellphone. The focus afforded to the dead leaves was not the effect I was going for to be quite honest LOL.

In a week I think the entire shrub will be littered with blossoms, I’ll be sure to cover it with pictures because the shrub encased in yellow is a beautiful sight to see.

I’m not at the point in my photographic life to invest in a real camera but I’m thinking that one day that decision will be made, when that day comes I have a few people in my life that will be instrumental in helping with my choice in hardware. It’s not for tomorrow so I won’t dwell on it any longer.

Tomorrow is another day for picture taking and I haven’t the foggiest as to what my subject will be and that’s okay, you’ll be the second to know. Lol

The gorgeous young lady posing at the top of the Empire State Building in the top picture is my dear, dear friend Florence, who I had the insane pleasure of reconnecting with this past summer at Arcachon. She knows of my diagnosis and she sent me these pictures of us during her time with me in New York back in 1989. The memories are beautiful and I have always treasured them near and dear to my heart. She is the kind of friend who you pray to be lucky enough to find and I was lucky enough to find her.

My husband took these amazing shots from our “second home” in Boston, I may be prejudiced, but I think he has a great eye and an excellent technique when it comes to photography. I’m fairly sure I’m repeating myself, but when the shoe fits…. I don’t think I have ever gotten as much detail on the waterway when I have taken similar pictures and I have taken quite a few, I also love the gradation of the hues in the sky, its subtlety is quite lovely.

With pictures such as these to look at, I will be getting impatient to be done with my treatments and to get back on the road again with my husband, visiting, eating out and taking pictures of both old and new places during our travels together.

New York City, pictures, postaday2016

My mother and I walked around Union Square for a bit and then we meandered up to Bed Bath and Beyond located on 6th avenue and 21st Street. The sky was glorious and since I won’t be back to New York for at least a good six weeks, I wanted to take a few pictures to look at and cheer myself up with, New York with blue skies is always a lovely sight.

If you look at the stark difference in the sky between my pictures, the ones looking uptown towards an icy blue sky and then the ones looking downtown towards a practically white sky, I’m not sure  if that was the effect from the reflection of the sun against my cellphone or if it was something else. Whatever it was, it did make for a wild look for the Freedom Tower in the backdrop from Fifth avenue.

My last hurrah in the Big Apple, you can feel the brisk cold from yesterday emanating from the way the New Yorkers are carrying themselves. I love seeing energy in my pictures, it brings them to life.

My husband took this gorgeous shot amongst others, we share pictures between our phones, I don’t know how, they just magically appear lol. Most of the time, I’m not interested because they are work related, but when he takes pictures wearing his photographer’s hat, they really pop. He has a beautiful eye for photography.

I love the way the clouds were captured on the Freedom Tower’s side panels, the vibrancy of the color blue, both actual and reflective, I love the cotton ball aspect of the clouds, seemingly placed just so around the Freedom Tower, and the juxtaposition of the surrounding buildings, short, stout and tall in the overall composition.

There are some pictures that bring everything together just so, this is one of those pictures in my opinion. Excellent job my husband.

On my way to meeting my husband and my mother at La Grenouille, where we had a fantastic meal together, complete with decadent souffles, I took the opportunity of the beautiful day and the leisurely morning I had planned, to take as many striking pictures as I could and I had the great fortune on stumbling upon a beautiful series of outdoor sculptures. But first an homage to La Grenouille.

There are so many outdoor plazas that are home to all types of sculpture, big, small, modern, classic, fanciful, all it takes is an open mind and a wandering eye to capture all of these treasures. Literally New York City is littered with art, it’s a gift to the sea of humanity that traverses its streets night and day.

We took the trio to the vet and had an excellent visit, Jack and Lulu had the last of their annual vaccinations and Stanley had one more puppy checkup and vaccination, his next one is in four weeks. Our vet was pleased with all three of our dogs, though Stanley received the most attention because he’s a fluffy ball of adorableness.

They do love their backyard, our three bundles of canine energy,  I love how Stanley has been fully accepted by both Jack and Lulu. Jack has been having the best time wrestling with Stanley and Lulu has lost her awkwardness and timidity  towards Stanley, it’s fun to watch.

I can’t stop taking pictures of Stanley, he is too cute and every time I whip out my cell phone, he automatically sits down, so what am I supposed to do, not take a picture?

It was  very easy taking the three to the vet, we squeezed them into the back seat of the car and luckily enough when we got to  the vet’s, we were sheparded into an examination room almost immediately. It was basically no fuss and no muss, easy as pie. Whew! 😀 lol

Stanley was being so cute, he is definitely a ham for the camera, I took his picture because he wasn’t letting me do otherwise. Each picture  taken at ground level  had to be retaken a few times, because Stanley inserted his  paw or his head into the frame, it was very funny.

Mother Nature never disappoints, when I came outside to document the naked trees, the fading colors and the  abundance of fallen leaves everywhere, I didn’t expect to see my spring perennial with two white flowers or my purple azalea hiccup two final blossoms.

Instead of inspiring me  to write or take pictures, the colorful carpet of leaves across the entire backyard used to fill me with dread, the thought of all that raking  and bagging, ugh. On the bright side those days are long gone, ever since I read that raking and bagging leaves is unnecessary, leaving them to decompose naturally throughout the long winter does wonders for your lawn and keeps our landfills  empty of plastic bags and rotting leaves by the tons.

Murry Hill area of New York

Murry Hill speaks Art Deco to me, this building up above with its spartan, elegant, strong stamped design caught my eye for the first time. I have walked past it hundreds of times, right now it has the Wells Fargo logo on the front doors, but I’m sure its orginal proprietors were more intriguing than a crooked bank. I can’t believe that I have walked right past it and never noticed its unique signature. How blind can I be, or was I walking with my head down, legs racing trying to get from point A to point B without noticing everything else that was right up above me? The building, called the Mobil building, was built in 1955, thank goodness for Google, originally it was intended to be brick but afterwards it was decided to be clad in aluminum until it was announced to be stainless steel, however it was designed, I’m glad that picked stainless steel, it is far more striking than any other material.

I was in that neighborhood visiting my dentist whose practice is on 30 East 40th Street right between Park Avenue and Madison, I called my mother afterwards to make dinner plans, pizza at Vesso’s on Lexington and 31st Street, right in the heart of Murry Hill. It’s a great neighborhood, my mother knew it well, her first office position was on Madison Avenue and 33rd Street, not too far from Lexington Ave.

The  glass building is right at Park Avenue and 40th Street, I love reflections, especially when it’s made up of buildings reflecting those around them, it provides so much depth and richness to a picture. This one is one of my favorites, I like both the simplicity and the complexity of the picture, I love snapping my camera, it makes for some pretty amazing shots.

I was in Boston yesterday at the Norman B Leventhal Park people watching, it’s one of life’s cheapest pleasures. Who is this Norman B Leventhal? I asked Google and got my answer. He was a very civic minded business leader who did a lot to influence the look and feel of Boston’s skyline, not to mention what happened underneath the city. His park is situated at Post Office Square, right in the heart of Boston’s Financial District. I enjoy sitting in this park while I wait, sipping coffee and watching people eat lunch, gather in groups talking and wondering where people are off to, what they do for work.  It’s fun for me.

If you look real hard at the picture up above, you can see me in the reflection taking the picture. I did it on purpose, curious to see how it turned out and I think it came out pretty well if you know what to look for of course. The rest of the pictures I took from various angles sitting from my seat but I did go towards the Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Greenway to take some pictures later on. I could spend days and days taking pictures of Boston, there is so much to document and communicate through pictures, it feels like I see something new each and every time I visit.
