In order to write the title, I had to go far back into the dusty stacks of my brain and shake off a few bins to remember the correct roman numeral designation. Hooray I remembered.

I am worried for the Patriots because they had a bad week with “Deflategate”. We never watch football except for the Superbowl and being from New England, we root for the Patriots. I hope they win.

I am surprised that they are playing in a super dome in Arizona because it isn’t cold there, but my husband explained to me that University of Arizona, like other football schools, makes so much money off their college football games that they can afford to build these grandiose super domes with air-conditioned, wifi and maximum seating.

So far I have laughed at quite a few commercials. I liked the Snickers commercial with Steve Buscemi, one of my favorite actors and I also liked the BMW commercial with Bryant Gumbel and Katie Couric.

Oh oh, the Patriots lost their chance for a touch down and the Sea Hawks have the ball; stress!

I am keeping my fingers crossed. I hope the Sea Hawks don’t score.

The cutest Budweiser commercial ever! I love puppies. Terminator is back too!

I hope the Patriots win. I know that the Half Time show is going to be good, it’s Katy Perry and I really like her.

It is a good, exciting game so far.

I hope the Patriots win.

Today is Super Bowl Sunday and my hubby and I are watching it together in Virginia. We left early to make sure that we didn’t hit any Super Bowl traffic since this is the first time that New Jersey is the host. As we drove past the stadium, no traffic, but a big police presence on the New Jersey Turnpike.

We never watch football except for Super Bowl and this year it is the Seahawks versus the Broncos, Seattle versus Denver. Or as Stephen Colbert from the Colbert Report said “the battle of the Marijuana states.” I love watching Stephen Colbert, he is the man of the hour when it comes to satire. Stephen Colbert spent the week spinning his satirical take on American football; the controversy surrounding brain damage, the future of medical marijuana in treating football injuries and a whole slew of other things that I can no longer remember except for the fact that it made me laugh.

So far we have been watching for the first fifteen minutes or as they say in football speak “3rd down and 7” whatever that means, an interception has just happened, a Seahawk intercepted a Peyton Manning (a Bronco) pass and this is the first interesting play that has happened since it started. All that we have been watching until now, has been fumbles and out of bounds stuff.

The commercials aren’t even that great so far, it feels as if everyone is asleep at the wheel or just not trying. I am not a football expert but I have been watching the Super Bowl for at least twenty years and this one is not a great one, it is still early though. And the only fun commercial so far has been Doritos, I have to say that they never disappoint with their commercials. So hopefully things will pick up as time goes forward on the clock.

Tonight is the one night of the year that my hubby and I watch football. We actually enjoy watching it together, just the two of us. It never gets crazy or loud. I don’t ask questions because I understand football. I grew up playing touch football with the guys on my block when I was little, being the only girl of the same age as the guys, I was often drafted. I am pretty sure that I enjoy the Superbowl so much because it’s only once a year. If I had to watch football every weekend, I’m pretty sure that I wouldn’t like it as much. Playing sports, I find, is much more satisfying when being played rather than being watched on t.v. Anyway, not only does the Superbowl give you great football but it also gives you great commercials. Tonight is when you see the genius of Madison Avenue (where all the advertising firms are located in New York City). Can you believe that a 30 second commercial costs between 2 and 3 million dollars? That is why we are seeing Madison Avenue’s A game.

One interesting first in Superbowl history is that the competing coaches are brothers. I would and would not want to be their mommy tonight. As their mommy, I would be so proud of both of my sons and I would also be watching the game feeling so much stress for both teams. Who do you root for, both of course but each son must want their mommy on their side. Poor mommy.

I made pizza for us; fresh mozzarella, fresh basil and prosciutto with a whole wheat thin crust. Tonight will be a good night.
