Believe it or not, this supermarket was one of our sightseeing stops lol. Not that we had never gone to a French supermarket before, but they are so different than what we have here in the States when it comes to products sold and the varieties of produce and the sheer diversity of cheese and yogurt; for someone enamored with food as myself, it is sheer heaven.
I miss my yogurts over there; La Laitiere, Bonne Maman yaourt a la vanille, petit suisses and all of the other varieties available.
Until next time.
I love visiting foreign supermarkets to compare and contrast.
I consider them a part of the sightseeing must see list. I remember doing that in London way back when; food perusing is so much fun when you don’t have to buy it and cook it for the family as part of the daily routine of things that you have to do, I love cooking but I hate the part “what do I make for dinner this week”.
I hate that too! Lunch is the worst; I have no imagination when it comes to lunch.
Lunch is really hard, at least in France at my uncle’s house they treat lunch as the big meal and dinner becomes the leftovers. My aunt does her food shopping after breakfast, she is probably the only holdover of the generation who did their food shopping on a daily basis as opposed to nowadays where most do it weekly. She still goes to her local vendors, her butcher, her fish monger, her produce guy, she is 83 for heavens sakes and she has more energy than I do. Bless her heart.
