Today the four of us, I really love when we all go to the movies together, went to see The Edge of Tomorrow with Emily Blunt and Tom Cruise. Of course, as always I liked the movie despite what the reviews have been saying in various publications. Actually the four of us liked the movie.
Here is what I got from the movie and I will try not to give away any spoilers. My favorite part was that Emily Blunt was the hero for much of the movie with Tom Cruise playing the less glamorous part of second banana, an unwilling combatant in the midst of huge battle. I was really rooting for Emily Blunt and she was very believable in her role in my opinion. I have to admit that over the years I have grown a little tired of Tom Cruise’s one note saving the day characters and this was a refreshing departure for Tom.
If I could summarize the movie in a phrase it would be a war movie version of Groundhog Day in which one side has the rare opportunity of resetting their day until they get it better.
Tom Cruise played his unwilling and unseasoned combatant part so well that he made quite a few scenes funny and that was very helpful to the overall movie.
I would tell everyone to give the movie a chance, you will be pleasantly surprised.
