I was back in Boston with my hubby and the only thing that made a huge impression on me was up in the air. I am and have been for a very long time petrified of heights. I blame my phobia on my falls from garage roofs, trees and the high cabinets of my mother’s old room. I got hurt pretty badly so my phobia is based on scientific inquiry and method. What made me stop in my tracks, dig around my bag for my cellphone and take a picture will be immediately understood.

Dear baby girl,

Have I mentioned how proud I am of you with everything that you have done to make your dream of going far away to school come true. I know that high school was often and unpleasant experience and yet you dug your heels in and persevered, your perseverance paid off with your acceptance to the college of your choice. Moreover, your first year was excellent and that is because you worked hard and it was all you. You can do absolutely anything that you put your wonderful mind to because you have the discipline and the tenacity to dovetail wonderfully with your innate intelligence and spirit.

Dear baby boy,

It is your turn. I am so proud of your determination and courage to take the road not often traveled, music that is yours and no one else's. You aren't daunted by the fact that your music isn't commercial, you follow your musical instincts because they resonate within your musical mind. Your father and I will always stand behind you and with you as you take your musical journey, no matter where it leads you.
