When weeds come home to roost

What happens when you spend two weeks with your hubby away from home in Boston? Weeds creep out from their hiding spot to take advantage of my absence and run amok throughout my garden. It is amazing how quickly they take over.

They have gotten quite big in two weeks, but when I get to them next week, they will be easier to pull out. When I have finished with the business of gardenkeeping, I’ll be sure to take a picture to show how neat the garden should look like at all times. In my more established gardens, there are so many different varieties of ground cover among the perennials that they have in effect, prevented any weeds from coming in to the gardens.

Create a short story, piece of memoir, or epic poem that is 26 sentences long, in which the first sentence begins with “A” and each sentence thereafter begins with the next letter of the alphabet.

An interesting prompt, a challenge for those who aren't necessarily creative and prefer writing off the cuff. But who am I to criticize, I should be thankful for the prompt since it gives me something to write about. Creativity isn't something that comes easily, I really have to work at it. Do I say this out of false modesty? Excellent question, but I assure you that it isn't the case. Far and away would I love to be considered creative but I have read too many of my pieces and taken a good long look at my pastry creations and I need help. Good writing needs some creativity, I would agree with that. Hopefully with my writing the small spark of creativity that comes out will blossom into bigger currents. I am assuming that with practice, creativity will grow. Juggling words and phrases often enough in your mind can lead to interesting posts. Keeping the faith and determination alive with writing is key to improvement. Lively discussions within the comment sections also provide much needed help and pointers. My hope is that my writing will continue to evolve and keep my audience engaged for years to come. No writer would be complete without an audience after all. Open any post on a WordPress blog and you will see someone's need to reach out and touch someone. Privacy is sometimes an issue and the line between creativity and privacy can be dangerous. Quite a dilemma at certain times, I try to honor that line at all times. Reality can sometimes be more creative than your wildest imagining, the saying always holds up "truth is stranger than fiction". So many scripts are often based on a true story and I often find myself thinking that there is nothing that man can't write that won't come true. The human spirit is amazing on so many levels precisely because of that crazy fact. Unless you want to argue with the creative writings of Jules Verne or Leonardo Da Vinci, creativity and reality eventually come together. Voracious reading will come to support my theory I am pretty certain of that. Would I bet anything substantial on my theory? Xenophanes, the Greek philosopher, thought that humans couldn't really "know" things but could only "assume" them thus bringing creativity into the realm of reality. Yet, what would we know without being creative? Zenith of knowledge isn't possible without a creative mind to bridge the chasms of doubt and uncertainty.
