birthday, May, middle spring, Mother's day, postaday2013

Today is May7th and tomorrow is my niece’s birthday, she is turning ten, a wonderful age for little girls. This coming weekend is Mother’s Day and we are all going to my mother’s house and then over to my sister’s to celebrate both my niece’s birthday and Mother’s Day. We will have a great time, there is no doubt of that, we are bringing Jack and I’m pretty sure that my niece and nephew are going to be really happy to see little Jack. Who wouldn’t be happy to see our adorable little Jack Russell?

The age old question whenever birthdays and other special days come around crops up. What do you get your niece who has quite a bit and what do you get your mother who also celebrates a birthday later in the month? The good part of buying for a ten year old girl is that you don’t have to bother with toys much anymore; clothing and jewelry, like small earrings, works very well as presents.

My mother on the other hand is getting trickier. I know that she wants cedar mulch for her garden but I would like to get her something else as well, so I am going to make a New York style cheesecake for the weekend, cheesecake is her favorite or at least one of her favorite’s. When I say trickier, all that means is, that after a while, you stop needing or even wanting new things and it gets difficult to think of ideas for your kids to get you.

My mother might not be too happy getting her cheesecake because she gets all concerned about gaining weight, so hopefully between all of us, we won’t leave my mother with too many extra pieces. She doesn’t have anything to worry in the weight department but you can’t tell her otherwise, she’ll explain to whoever asks, she doesn’t have to worry about weight problems because she is so careful on a daily basis. The intricacies of family. I think that despite all of her complaining, she will be very happy on the inside about the cheesecake and the mulch, she might even get a new plant to go with her mulch, that will definitely make her happy.

Early bird, or night owl?

I'm an in between, I don't go to bed too early or too late, it's usually 11:00 p.m and my eyes say Good night. I've never been one or the other and I've always had at least six hours but more along the lines of seven or eight hours of sleep a night. The only times that I slept less and I paid for it, were the times that I breastfed my two babies; boy was I stupid from sleep deprivation and do I NOT miss those sleep deprived days. I miss the baby smell, the baby soft skin and the baby cuddles but not the lack of sleep.

I have always loved sleep too much to ever be a night owl and I loved t.v too much to be an early bird, thankfully I have always been able to find the happy medium.
