I went skiing! I know that I wrote a post about skiing and how just the thought of it was exhausting. Well today since my sister and her little ones came, I didn’t just think about it, I actually did it. It was exhausting, not the skiing part, but the actual schlepping of the boots and skis back and forth. Little ones can’t carry their own equipment and so the adults also must function as pack mules. It was a lot of fun though. The conditions were ideal, not too cold, the snow wasn’t icy and there was barely anyone at the Blandford ski area.

I also spent my time baking and I took pictures at various stages to show you my efforts. I usually forget to take the pictures until it’s too late and the only thing left are the crumbs. I don’t know what tweaked my memory but whatever it was, I’m glad that it did.

Write a story or post with an open ending, and let your readers invent the conclusion.

I am baking an apple tart for my sister and my niece and nephew since they are visiting us for a few days of ski. I am trying to ply them with some homemade goodies to keep them coming back for more. That is my devious plan. However I deviated a bit from the recipe and if you weren't aware of this; baking is not like cooking, it is a little dangerous to fall off the beaten path and to go your own creative way. Baking is more scientific with its precise measurements, ratios, proportions and formulas. Even knowing this, I still went and did a little creative adding of an almond creme and some almond flour in both the pastry dough and the filling. The tart seems to be requiring a longer bake time then the recipe had called for. I am getting a little nervous.
