When to dismantle Christmas?

Christmas, decorations, dreary, January, postaday2013

The question is relative to each and everyone. My answer to the question is of a varied type; January is such a dreary month, long and cold and pretty much a let down after the buildup of all of the holiday festivities, so getting rid of all the decorations seems like a lot of work for not very good results. However, that being said I am finding myself eyeing the other homes waiting to see who is taking the initiative first. I sort of don’t want to be the first to say good bye to the holiday cheer. We might also have a visitor this weekend so I would like to keep the cheer going for a little while longer.

I think that I will put off taking down the decorations until next week when it is closer to Martin Luther King Jr’s Day. I’m pretty sure that I will be quite ready to accept the new year clean and tidy and decoration free.

The ultimate job

Describe my ideal job.

Wait a minute haven't I been doing it? Being a wife, mother, pet owner, daughter, sister, friend, home manager and everything else that entails being all of the above requires many skills and talents. There is budgeting, cooking, fixing, managing, driving, first aid, counseling, exercise coach (for Jack), nutritionist, disciplinarian and humorist. I wouldn't trade this job for anything.

I can't think of another job that could be better; because first and foremost, I cannot be in an office environment. I have never sat at a desk for more than an hour at a time because I just can't, I need to move. I have worked for lawyers in Soho and I wasn't chained to a desk. I was a floater doing different tasks for everyone and I liked it that way. The same when I was the Catalog Coordinator for Conran's; I was never at my desk, I was moving from the store to the studio to the warehouse to my office to everywhere in between.

That is why my ideal job is what I have been doing for the past 22 years; I never know what is going to happen, I don't sit for very long and I do a whole bunch of different stuff all the time. That's exactly how I like it.
