Benny and Joon, movies, music, postaday2013, romantic song

My hubby and I were watching the movie Pitch Perfect on pay per view and one of my favorite songs was featured in the movie. The song is “I would Walk 500 Miles” by the Proclaimers. The movie Pitch Perfect is about college level a Capella singing competition and the heroine is a freshman who joins the Barden Bella’s a Capella group with her future ambition to produce music commercially. I really enjoyed the whole movie; the music was punchy, upbeat and easy to sing with, the acting was fresh and real and there were so many laughs all around. My favorite song popped in right in the middle.

Not only did the movie feature my song but it also referenced most of the best eighties music there is; Tears for Fears, the soundtracks from Breakfast Club, Say Anything and Sixteen Candles etc. It was such a cute movie for so many reasons. I think that the song “I Would walk 500 Hundred Miles” became one of my favorite songs because first of all it was the song for a fantastic movie “Benny and Joon” with Johnny Depp, Aidan Quinn and Mary Elizabeth Masterson. I highly recommend the movie; it is the sweetest love story in the world between Benny and Joon. The first time that I heard the song sung by the twins I knew that this is one of the most romantic declarations that I ever heard in a song.

The cure for…

If I were a mad scientist and could create a cure for any disease, which would I cure?

Since the prompt includes the word "mad" in the label, I am going to answer with a crazy answer; old age. I would treat old age as a disease and find a cure for it. That doesn't necessarily mean that we wouldn't all pass away eventually but we wouldn't suffer from the ravages of old age ever again. We would all die from other ways but we would die not from any effects that come from old age.

Now onto a more serious treatment of the topic. If I could create a cure for a disease which one to pick? There is Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, M.S; I am not going to list them all, but I would probably concentrate all of my efforts on the diseases that are neurologically based in the hopes that a cure for one can lead to a cure for all.

Moreover I would, since I was "mad", disseminate the cure for free to the world and drive the pharmaceutical companies crazy when they see their precious profits go up in smoke. If you are going to be "mad" might as well be "mad" for the benefit of the world.
