Today my hubby and I went to see Skyfall, the latest James Bond movie. It was awesome and I mean that in the cutest way, Jon Stewart has a way of saying awesome that involves modulating your voice to a higher sing song pitch when saying awesome! When he says it that way, it means that it was way cooler than awesome.
Why was Skyfall awesome? Was it Daniel Craig? Partly yes, because he is in the same vein of Bond hero as Sean Connery; very physical, brutal at times and distant. Was it the action scenes? Oh yes, this Bond movie did not disappoint on the action front. Could it have been the villain? This villain definitely joins the ranks of super villain in his own unique way. The women were beautiful but it wasn’t that, that made it awesome.
I know what made it awesome in my opinion, this Bond movie and its creators made the point that experience and traditional artisanal ways of doing things do indeed have value. The old ways triumphed in an action movie. Hooray!
Technology has a place but it isn’t the be all and end all. We need our past to appreciate our future.
Don’t worry, we had Arby’s before the movies, I had my usual; small roast beef sandwich, curly fries and a 30 oz chocolate shake. Between the fast food and the movie, my hubby and I had a wonderful afternoon. Now we are in the living room, in front of a roaring fire with Jack sitting near his Papa while I’m across from them on my couch typing away on my IPad watching shows recorded on TiVo, a nice ending to a great day.
