Faith is believing in something or someone unquantifiable. It is about believing in something that requires more than your intellect and physical senses. I have faith in the goodness of the world. There is a phenomenal saying in the movie The Marigold Hotel I think, it stars Judi Dench and Maggie Smith, it is about British visitors and a hotel in India. The young Indian concierge says to one of the visitors, everything will work out in the end, if it is not working out then it is not yet the end. I find that phrase to be the best frame of reference one can have in life. There in that one phrase you find a beautiful expression of faith.

How lovely, “if it is not working out in the world, it’s not time to end it” or what that man said. I have to get that movie on my netflix. Laurie, I went through the painful sugury last tues, worked all week, slept all weekend. I am upset because my boss was in town and he said no raise for a year. I have to pray about that and use your saying.
I am so sorry to hear that, you sweetie. Ever since I heard that saying “everything will work out in the end, if it is not working out then it is not the end” I repeat it to myself and it comforts me. I hope that it will give you the same peace as it gives to me.
