Foie Gras
I don’t like sharing my food. I have gotten a lot better with age and ever since I became a mother but in the early days of my marriage, if my hubby came near my plate, I was apt to cut him off at the pass with a fork and knife barricade. The first time it happened, my hubby was in shock, he likes to recount that story where he almost lost a hand, especially since I seem so quiet and easy going, to whomever is there because it gets a huge laugh. I don’t know if they are laughing in disbelief or because he tells it so well. I want to say that it’s because my hubby is a great storyteller.
When I read the title of your post, I immediately thought “foie gras!” It’s one of my favorite things ever and whenever I have to share it, I get a little sad. And then I saw your picture and the caption. We must be kindred foie spirits!
Thanks for visiting and all I can say about foie gras is that it is like butter but bettter, it is absolutely one of my all time favorite things to eat. The bans that are threatening foie gras make me so angry. Why aren’t the PETA people complaining about the inhumane treatment of chickens. I am far more worried about eating a chicken with all the hormones, antibiotics, disgusting living conditions and potential for disease than foie gras. I will get off my soap box now, hooray for kindred spirits!
That is what I say ALL the time. It’s just ridiculous. Chickens are the worst raised animal and there needs to be serious crack downs on that industry but PETA would rather focus on foie. And those ducks lead a fairly happy life considering that they still end up as food. I work as a meat distributor and so I actually am friendly with the (former) producers of foie in California, Sonoma Foie Gras, and they are very sweet, knowledgeable people who would never treat their animals the way that PETA likes to assume they do. Just ridiculous.
Ok I admit, I will share books, but inside I pray to get them back.
I think that with the food on my plate, I can’t get it back. But I understand your feelings, books are precious and the empty space in a bookcase is sad.
It’s like ‘Friends’ – Joey doesn’t share food!
I’m sure that there is a psychological term for it, it used to feel very primal. Joey and I could have been a spin off with our craziness food not sharing thing.
