Today we were slapped with the start of a two day heat wave, it went from 70 to 93 just like that. It made working outdoors and even just walking, feel like you were moving in thick air. I took both Rex and Jack for their late morning walk and while Rex was engaged with his personal business, Jack just plopped over on his side. I got a little shocked, I thought to myself, how can Jack have a heat stroke? We just got out here. I called his name and he lifted his head up at me and gave me a look, Maman it’s so hot. I laughed at him and he got right up, the loon. Tomorrow is going to be just as murky hot and then the heat leaves on Friday, theoretically, hooray! Before this heat thrust itself upon us, I went around the garden to take closeup photos of the blues, purples and pinks. I got a little carried away because when I saw the rosebuds, that to my mind resembled the perfect icing rosettes that you see on gorgeous wedding cakes, I couldn’t stop taking pictures. This is the first year that I have taken pictures of my garden on a weekly basis and documenting its changes. I joined Pinterest and I’m creating boards with my pictures, two people have started following me, exciting! All the plants that I have pictured in the slide show are perennials; the purple, pink and blue ones are variations of salvia and sage. The delicate white blossoms were a surprise this year, I had planted them only last year and up until I took out my cell phone to take pictures, I had thought that I had lost them, they sprung up overnight. I was thrilled, I love the delicate nature of the blossom and the dainty stem and leaves. The roses, like I said before, I couldn’t resist because they were, in the moment, what I felt reflected a perfect rose and the potential of rose perfection.
