Who’s the most famous person you’ve ever met?

Meeting Someone Famous

Astor Place

Working at Conran’s store at Astor Place in the village in New York during the mid to late 80’s gave me several opportunities to meet and see a few famous people. I sold furniture to Jane Curtain, who by the way is such a nice lady. William Baldwin was another customer, he wasn’t as pleasant. Tom Cruise came into our store right before closing time but he didn’t speak to anyone, he was shorter than I expected. Darryl Hannah was another customer, she was pretty and sweet, as was Phoebe Cates. While I worked at Conran’s I was also a student at NYU at the same time as John F. Kennedy Jr. I got to see him almost everyday but I never had a chance to meet him. I thought that he was so much more handsome in person.

Since we were otherwise engaged on Friday with the graduation and its celebration, we went to the movies today instead. We have been seeing the trailers for Prometheus for the past three weeks and being fans of the Aliens series, we were so very curious as to what kind of story Ridley Scott had in mind for his prequel. I don’t want to spoil the movie with any spoilers so I’m just going to give an account of my opinion. I liked the movie quite a bit, there wasn’t a single instance where I was bored or confused. The action kept pace with the story as it unfolded, the acting was top notch, the effects were great and the suspense and anticipation made for an exciting journey in the mind’s eye view of Ridley Scott and his creation of the Alien universe. Throughout the film, the story follows a logical progression to the next level and I found that to be a huge part of why I liked it so much. I really appreciate plot consistency and an organic unfolding. Ridley Scott made a brave decision to revisit the Alien universe and I think that he made the right call. That being said, it’s not for everyone.
