How do you chill out when you’re stressed?

How I De-Stress

I really like doing mindless tasks such as weeding, folding laundry, loading my dishwasher. I guess my point is that I combat stress with physical labor. Walking is a sure fire way of getting rid of unwanted stress, the more physical the activity the better.

Mother Nature, are you upset with us?

If I could find Mother nature’s door, I’d be knocking politely to see if she would be gracious and tell me why she turned down the thermostat. I shouldn’t be complaining, it isn’t cold by any measure. It has been 50 degrees for the last few days and as it stands, it should remain in the low 50’s until May first. It just went from balmy 60-70 degrees to windy, very damp low 50’s and my joints are aching. I feel the damp creeping in between the cartilage and joint crevices and irritating the inner cavities. It is hard to explain the ache of rheumatoid arthritis but these days of dampness have made me a little irritable. My hips, ankles and knuckles have been cantankerous and I’m looking forward to some stronger sunlight to come our way soon. In my mind, I can imagine the rays of sun acting like a soothing balm on my achy joints. I’m looking forward to it, I think that “Here Comes the Sun” would be a perfect song to welcome the sun back again.

Younger Voters Shift From Obama

As long as President Obama reminds the voters of his priorities; the environment, steering us towards a strong green economy, investment in research and development, reversing the dominance of finance in our economy, investment in our public education and state universities and better income opportunities, the voters will realize that the GOP has been against all of those proposals. The GOP wants to cut away any chance of growth for the future, all the GOP is interested in is getting us back to the late 1890’s. The era of Robber Barons, fossil fuel, no environmental policies, no worker’s rights, no women rights; it was a fun time for the wealthy, not so much for the 99%. But when you are in Romney’s class, by monetary right, you have virtue, the poor need the dignity of work to validate their existence. I don’t want Romney to have the opportunity to further legislate the huge inequalities that have grown over the past 4 decades. I want our President to continue his work trying to redress the huge imbalance to give the future generations the chance for real opportunities.

Arizona Immigration Law Lands In Supreme Court With Arguments

It makes sense that the DOJ would sue over S.B 1070 because in a rational world, a patchwork of 50 different immigration laws doesn’t make a whole lot of sense when it is a federal issue. It undermines the sovereign notion of one nation, one immigration policy. If the Supreme Court upholds Arizona’s “lone state” position on immigration, it opens up a whole can of worms with immigration as a whole. However with the Supreme Court ruling the way it has, I wouldn’t place a bet either way. Their recent ruling on strip searches, free speech equals money or vice versa, however you want to interpret Citizens United, this Supreme Court doesn’t bode well for our individual liberties. The 5-4 ideological divide means that the war on terror mentality has won and until the shift hearkens back to a more liberal worldview, we haven’t seen the last of our liberties be curtailed. Another reason why I am behind President Obama, we cannot afford another conservative voice on the Court. Romney’s campaign has downplayed Robert Bork’s presence but make no mistake, Bork is an adviser and there was a reason why he wasn’t confirmed as Supreme Court justice back in the 80’s. Bork’s advisory position gives us though, a peek into Romney’s judicial views, and they may well be even more conservative than Cheney/Bush.
