Breakfast for dinner: Are you a fan?

April 20, 2012

Breakfast for Dinner

Vegetables

I’m not a fan of breakfast for dinner because oatmeal or a bowl of Crispix wouldn’t be very satisfying at night. I also like to have two pieces of rye toast with butter and preserves but that wouldn’t do it for me either at night. I like having my vegetables at dinner. If I’m going to eat meat or fish I prefer them at lunch and at dinner just something small. I prefer to eat most of my food as early as possible.

Every Friday morning, my friend and I alternate in leading the ladies in our osteoporosis weight class for about two hours when everything is said and done. We all meet at the town hall in Montgomery, a tiny hill town not toO far from Blandford. We all get together and set up the room by bringing in our chairs from the senior room into the main meeting room. We also get our lower back support pillows and our arm and leg weights. By the time we are ready we have already spent a half hour. I have to say that during the two hours of physical exercise of stretching, walking, balance exercises and using our weights in several repetitive weight-bearing exercises, we also exercise our minds and mouths. We happily try to solve all of the world’s problems, occasionally we’ll have one of the ladies get on their soapbox and it does happen that they don’t want to get down. Everyone is so very good-natured about it. I do bite my tongue, especially as I have written before the ladies do have a tendency to blame the young and single mothers for everything. I try to keep them on subjects such as gardening because they are all very adept gardeners and I learn a lot from their experience. Gardening is always a much more pleasant subject to talk about anyway.

‘Bridge To Work’ Will Let States Experiment With Unemployment Insurance

The unemployment crisis was borne out of the circumstance of a perfect storm. A housing bubble that was there for the “experts” to misdiagnose, gross misconduct committed by mortgage lenders gone greedy by severe financial deregulation blessed by politicians asleep at the wheel, decades of wage stagnation hidden by easy credit aka, homes used as atm’s and when everything exploded all of these circumstance were laid bare. President Obama has been trying to redirect the economy towards growth and the GOP has been thwarting him at every turn doubling down with a tax cut philosophy that has shown nothing but benefits for the wealthy class, no economic growth whatsoever for the rest of us. Looking over at Europe it is clear as day that austerity has nothing to offer except pain and misery, we have had enough of that here, we need to continue growing our way out of deficits, not pile more on as the GOP would like to do.

I can see how the wealthy applaud the tax cuts because their share of the total wealth of this country of ours has increased exponentially while the majority of us has seen our share of wealth fall precipitously even though our productivity has increased, it has really benefited the wealthy and not us. I would argue then that we are the true producers and it is the wealthy who are the parasites, gaming the system with tax cuts, hijacking good jobs and shipping them overseas, automating everything and co-opting politicians into passing legislation codifying these anti worker tactics into law. The GOP as a whole are making sure that we, the majority, don’t get to see our tax dollars at work in ways that would benefit society as a whole such as in infrastructure, no, rather we see our tax dollars hard at work in the military, keeping our young troops in harm’s way in hostile regions for years now. The Ryan budget is the blueprint of this “job creator” mindset and they aren’t even being subtle about it anymore. Their code isn’t the code of the many, it’s the code for the few.

Senate Races 2012: Republican Establishment Tries To Tamp Down Tea Party Insurgency

Money has always been instrumental in politics but before it seemed that there was discretion and restraint in its use. Since Citizens United has ruled that money is speech, it seems that big money has lost its timidity and is now shouting from the rooftops. “My superpac is huge and its going to bring you down!” In the case of the GOP establishment and even the democrat old guard, it is not even trying to be coy about it, the superpacs who are fueled by corporate donors and private millionaires/billionaires, own the political candidates. Pat, I’d like to buy a politician for 250, 250k that is. Politics has always been a game but before the little people had the illusion that they were allowed to play, now the big boys are saying we let you think that you were playing, now go home and get back to work. You haven’t been productive enough this week, go work some more hours for minimum wage and be happy about it.
