What famous monument do you hope to see one day?

Monument To See

I would love to see all the monuments to the ancients such as Stonehenge, the idols on Easter Island, the pyramids in Egypt. I know that Syria, Jordan and the rest of the region hold many wonders that I would also love to visit. I’m curious about the beginning physical manifestations of man’s worship of something beyond their understanding.

Today was another beautiful day up here in , so my newly budding shrubs and roses were calling me to trim them from their winter dead weight. I try to apply my shears in a restraining fashion but I, for some reason, get carried away fairly easily. Thank goodness I’m not a hairdresser, I think that I’d get killed by all my customers because I can’t stop cutting.

I tackled the wild rose bushes that frame the stairs that lead to the backyard pool. They were making the stairs impassable and they were also encroaching on the walkway on the left side of the pool. I didn’t have a choice, I had to prune them. My Tantine Cecile has wonderful results with her plants and I always remember her saying that roses, every few years or so, need a good thorough pruning so that new growth comes from the center canes, the heart of the rose-bush. Oh boy, did my wild roses get a good thorough cleaning. I finally forced myself to walk away and not look back.

I turned my sights onto my huge sprawling rose-bush on the side by the propane tank that heats the pool. I love how it hides a lot of blemishes in the yard, so I was extremely conservative in my pruning. I did feel the urge to keep going but I reminded myself that I had a huge shrub that I really wanted to trim down to size. I took a tooth saw and sawed away until my hands started getting numb. I tried manually today but don’t worry, tomorrow I’m going to take to the shrubs with a sawzall. I’ll be sure to be very careful. I have been wanting to trim them down for a few years now. My goal is to get it done this season.

Timothy Geithner Calls Mitt Romney Claims ‘Misleading,’ ‘Ridiculous’

Romney did make himself look like a fool amongst the well read when he spent last week trying to turn the “war on women” back onto President Obama. Doesn’t anyone remember the beginning of the recession, it was called the mancession for a reason, the stock market fell apart, man jobs lost, the construction industry fell to its knees, man jobs lost once again. With federal jobs being slashed at the strict insistence of the GOP leadership and by also refusing to extend aid to the states, the shedding of women jobs at the state government level can also be attributed to the GOP leadership. The democrats should be calmly stating their case and going on the offensive by stating their case instead of getting hysterical and retreating to being defensive as usual. Democrats need to stand strong.

Mitt Romney: Mothers Should Be Required To Work Outside Home Or Lose Benefits

Classic Mitt Romney hard at work with his Etch a Sketch, Romney when he was Governor of Massachusetts piggybacked off the example that President Clinton pushed by Newt Gingrich when they revamped welfare. Twenty years later, the promises that Clinton and Gingrich made regarding how wonderful and liberating their changes were going to be, have been revealed to be horribly false. More families are and stay poor. Income stagnation for the middle class and yet, for the financial sector executives, their pay grades have soared. It isn’t good for the overall economic, political and social health of this country and we have seen the evidence of this, in the 2008 economic meltdown. Romney makes me so angry because he is a liar. He doesn’t mean well, his purpose is to keep the status quo because it works for him and his class, that is it, nothing more complicated than that.

TV SoundOff: Sunday Talking Heads

Jason, I just watched 10 minutes of Meet the Press and I was about to kick the t.v in. David Gregory had Kirsten Gillibrand and Michelle Bachmann talking about the “war on women”. My take on the whole thing is that the democrats failed to zero in on the whole key economic issue, Anne Romney had the LUXURY of the CHOICE to stay at home. Most women don’t have the CHOICE because for 4 decades incomes have been stagnant across the board and jobs have been shipped overseas thanks to companies like Bain LLC. David Gregory gave most of the airtime to Michelle Bachmann and she attacked President Obama on gas prices and being a health care dictator. Gillibrand tried to speak about the GOP bill regarding employers being able to dictate a women’s health choices and Bachmann went back to dictator Obama. I asked my hubby to turn it off, why is Bachmann asked back to these shows, she only dumbs them down. Jason, it was so painful.

Favorite Piece of Art

Degas dancer from back

There are a few that I have narrowed down, I love sculpture and Rodin was a genius and I adore the Thinker. I love adore Degas’s paintings of the ballet students. Degas also made the bronze statue of the young ballerina. Degas really captured the grace and beauty of those young ballerina’s, the beauty tugs at your heart, you feel the painter’s loneliness when he paints them from a hidden place.
