This weekend I have been spoiled, I got to see not one movie but two. Our car needed an oil change and my hubby had the foresight to schedule one for 11:30 this morning. We got there and they took us immediately, my hubby then treated me to a fine breakfast at the conveniently located IHOP across the way on Route 5. My favorite breakfast is normally two eggs over-east with rye toast and two sausage links, at my hubby’s insistence I upped the ante and got the two pancakes on the side to make it a combo. My hubby was happy that I broke the twenty year ban on pancakes. I think that I lost all desire for pancakes after I gorged on them during my pregnancy with my first-born. After breakfast, we went to get our car and it was done, ready to be picked up.

It turned out that as we drove past the movie theater, the new Julia Roberts movie Mirror, Mirror was playing at 1:10 and as we looked at the clock in the car, it just so happened to be 1:00. Hooray for us, it was movie time! My hubby and I really enjoyed Mirror, Mirror. As the evil step-mother/Queen(Julia Roberts) put it so well, it was the fairy tale told through the Queen’s perspective. Julia played the evil Queen so well, she was the perfect amount of sarcastic and snarky tempered with fake charm and the great Nathan Lane served well as a comic foil. Snow-white was played to perfection by Lily Collins, her father is Phil Collins, she is so lovely. The dwarves each had personality and charisma unique to each and everyone of them. In case you hadn’t noticed, I, or I should say, we love movies. We loved this one, it was an escapist movie, a nice fairy tale with a happy ever after.

Tell Us More About Romney’s ‘Private’ Views

As the title of the article says, “just because Romney said it in public doesn’t mean that he thinks it in private” creates a whole other bag of worms regarding the Romney candidacy. The prospect of Romney as president makes me very nervous because I haven’t a clue as to what Romney actually stands for. You hear pundits speak about not paying attention to anything Romney said during the primary because that isn’t what he really is all about. So if we go back to his days at MA, he wasn’t good at getting MA off the 47th rank of job creation. He made his fortune at Bain doing the venture capitalism thing. He did exceptionally well at Harvard and sent his boys there fantastic, but he said to people if YOU can’t afford it, be happy to go to a cheaper school because government isn’t here to help you. I don’t know how he really feels about reproductive privacy and rights because in MA he said one thing and now he wants to stop federal funding of Planned Parenthood across the board. What I am getting at here, is that I cannot see how a voter can trust who they are going to get in the White House if he or she votes Romney, he seems to be a man who will do what works for him. His tax returns show what has worked for him and those policies don’t work for the rest of us.

Chris, excellent article, love Hillary Clinton and I’m glad that she showed common sense and stayed out of the fray. She is probably too busy given everything that is on her plate at the moment. You are correct that the whole point, Anne Romney has the LUXURY of having the CHOICE, was lost in the brouhaha. Democrats fumbled the excellent chance to underscore that it has been decades of GOP policies, anti-union sentiment and pro-corporate agendas that created 3 decades worth of income stagnation that forced middle-class women and working class women to HAVE to work outside the home to continue to maintain an average lifestyle. One salary wasn’t doing the job it used to in the 50’s and 60’s. Democrats could have countered Santorums’ whole argument that the breakdown of America was because of the breakdown in the nuclear family with, it was exactly the robbing of the middle class income potential and opportunity that caused the breakdown of the family, working women forced to help to make ends meet created a generation of latch key kids. Slashing after school programs didn’t help either. Hillary Clinton was right, it takes a village to raise a child and the GOP legacy failed the American nuclear family across the board.
