The family unit went out this evening for a movie and dinner at the Olive Garden. The babies like the Olive Garden, unlimited bread sticks and salad. It is a dependable restaurant, no surprises and the portions are large enough to warrant leftovers for the next day, hooray. The movie we saw, just came out, Lockout. The writer and director of the movie Fifth Element, Luc Besson, wrote and produced Lockout. Be prepared for the hero of the movie, played by Guy Pierce, to be daring, cocky, tongue in cheek, reminiscent of Bruce Willis in the Fifth Element and of Die Hard fame. It is a science fiction action movie, set in 2079 and the world of course is slightly different to say the least. What I am saying is that this movie entertained us, kept me hopping in my seat and gave us quite a bit to talk about over dinner. Nothing mind-boggling, just hashing out various scenes that resonated the most with us, which characters we liked, we all agreed that Guy Pierce makes a fine hero, we would watch him in another action role anytime.

Would you get a new pet if it were free?

Pick a new pet to take home for free.

A New Pet

Stones

The whole idea of a new pet for free doesn’t take into account who has to take care of the pet, whichever type it happens to be, you still have to take care of it. It also doesn’t calculate the actual cost outside of purchasing the new pet, the vet bills, food and supplements. I would entertain a new pet only if it could be a pet rock, other than that regardless if it’s free or not I say no.

Federal Government Disagrees With Ann Romney: Raising Children Not ‘Work’

One of my fellow HuffPo friends made the comment that if businessmen like Mitt Romney didn’t provide financial incentives for companies to pull up stakes and shift jobs overseas to increase profits and share prices than perhaps jobs would have remained here permitting more women to stay at home. The whole debate has been shown to be a frivolous one because the reality for the majority of families is that the women staying at home isn’t a choice, it is a financial necessity. When President Clinton signed the welfare reform bill, it forced poor mothers to work, tacitly acknowledging that being a stay at home mom doesn’t qualify as work. Moreover with the GOP slashing programs such as Planned Parenthood how are women supposed to practice birth control planning? How can anyone not admit that the GOP has a twisted agenda when it comes to women and especially poor women?

George Soros: European Crisis Has Entered ‘Potentially More Lethal Phase’

I seriously don’t understand how the political leaders in Europe think that they can contain their citizens much longer if they continue down the austerity path. I know that we complain and have the right to complain here but at least we have President Obama and the democrats forestalling the GOP from wholeheartedly embracing austerity like over in Europe. Why aren’t the Europeans not instituting the framework such as we have here? It isn’t equal, equal, we all know that the blue states are the givers and the red states are the takers but in the end it all comes out in the wash and we function as a country and as a society. The same can be said for the eurozone, the givers need to help the takers so that the whole doesn’t suffer. If they don’t bite the bullet now, the givers such as Germany are going to bring the whole union down amongst them.

JPMorgan Chase: The Great White Whale Of The Global Economy

The metaphors aren’t doing justice to the actual damage that the big banks have done and are still doing to our economy. When Matt Taibbi called Goldman Sachs the vampire squid, that was actually an apt description of Goldman Sachs activities, sucking the life force out of their victims, just ask Greece. The great white whale doesn’t adequately illustrate JP MorganChase. I always rooted for the great white whale in Moby Dick and found Captain Ahab to be the most flawed literary character in all of literature. I would liken JP MorganChase to the iceberg in the Titanic scenario with our economy unfortunately being the Titanic and our previous Captain along with the designers and builders were clueless to prevent our ship from sinking. Our present day Captain is amongst the wreckage crews trying to steer us off to a better course but those same pesky designers and incompetent crew members keep trying to steer him further off course back towards the icebergs.
