inNow that my little one’s aren’t so little, they are actually big, I have all this affection that wants to be expressed with cuddly little one’s and the only one’s that are available to lavish my goofy attention on, are the dogs little Jack and humongous Rex. I see why some authors incorporate their dogs into their novels. One of my favorite John Steinbeck novels is “Travels With Charlie”. Steinbeck and his dog Charlie went on a cross-country road trip in his Winnebago and the book was cover to cover fabulous stories each one starring Charlie.
While I was walking Rex and Jack, I was thinking about what I was going to write for my daily post and I immediately flashed to what Rex did earlier. I was laying on the couch not feeling well and trying to sleep. Jack as usual, Maman’s boy that he is, is sleeping on my chest, not caring if Maman is comfortable or not. I am drifting off and it is nice when your brain starts shutting off and going all fuzzy, when I feel a huge nose attached to a huge head, sniffing me from neck to knees like some wacky vacuum. When my eyes didn’t open, I feel the huge head, head but my belly, Rex was basically saying “Maman, Wake up I’m talking to you!”. I don’t open my eyes and Rex vacuum sniffs me once more, followed by another head but. That is why I can see why writers like to write about their dogs from time to time. They do give you great material, at least, you seem to think so, your dog stories become the equivalent of your baby’s stories, they are really funny and interesting to you and sometimes your audience is only being very polite. Well there is my dog story, cracked me up at the time, being vacuum sniffed. I hope it translated well to the written page.

The RNC doesn’t disappoint when it comes to revealing its disconnect with reality. They are seriously trying to accuse President Obama of launching a negative campaign when the entire GOP party has for the past 4 years, done nothing but sling mud at our President and the first lady with their racist comments and name calling. Our President has never stooped to their level, I have been such an admirer of his cool and grace under such hurtful attacks. President Obama, by pointing out the obvious differences in priorities between the GOP vision, where it’s all for the wealthy and nothing for the rest of us, and the Democratic vision, where it’s a vision of inclusion and we are all in this together, simply states facts and outlines it with intelligent statements and arguments as to why we should embrace his vision for our country’s economic and political priorities and not the GOP’s vision of more trickle down economics that has trickled away the nation’s wealth to the pockets of the wealthy and that is about it.

Clearly, come this November the senate and house elections are the ones to watch. My hope is that President Obama is re-elected and more importantly the senate gains a few more seats and that the house’s makeup is minus a few tea party legislators. What derailed our recovery from the get go was the bloc of GOP lawmakers joined by blue dog democrats,(who made me really mad betraying their principles for their corporate benefactors), 2010 was made even worse when the small faction of tea party republicans came waltzing in and refused to pay our country’s bills by playing chicken with the debt ceiling. It was an embarrassment of gross incompetence and ignorance. The GOP leadership kept harping on the same meme “adult conversation”. There was no “adult conversation” on their end, it was teenage rebellion pure and simple, immature posturing by the house and it was bad governance on Boehner’s part. The GOP should be ashamed of themselves but they aren’t, because they goal is to fulfill Ayn Rand’s philosophy into a living, breathing achievement, our society. The parasites us working at the pleasure and whim of the producers.

I often wonder, how can the wealthy and the GOP lawmakers be okay with how things stand in this country of ours? The answer is so simple it’s sad. It works for them, they are at the pinnacle, so why would they want to reverse their trajectory just for the sake of the nation as a whole? When I read about how much suspicion and dislike government and unions evoke in republicans, even those who either benefit from government or would benefit from union participation, and for whom the republican agenda really decreases their standard of living, I don’t understand the psychology or the sociology of poor republicans. The Ryan plan doesn’t work for them, it doesn’t make sense for their economic circumstances so why do they vote for these legislators and these policies? It can only be explained by being brainwashed into hating the idea of government so much that you would spite yourself in order for government to be rendered incapable of fulfilling its purpose; which is help create an environment where business can operate safely, legitimately and with integrity, meaning regulations, that people have due process, safety, education and liberty. How can people be turned away from this common sense so easily?
