Whenever a celebrity passes away, usually as a result of a long-term losing battle with an addiction or many addictions, it is hard to escape from the screeching of every pundit and journalist broadcaster or writer known to man, analyzing and repeating the same exact story and showing the same awful pictures. At first it was poor Demi Moore who was fighting a losing battle with, who knows what narcotic; but also having issues with weight to the point where, even in Hollywood, they were concerned with Demi being TOO skinny.
Then poor Whitney passed away at the young age of 48. Unfortunately, Whitney was another victim of a losing battle with narcotic addictions and Demi is finally off the hook. Now, all focus is centered on Whitney and her stints in rehab, her disheveled appearances, her bizarre behavior at various events, it is pitiful and unfortunately it will go on until there is a new shocking story to milk for everything it’s worth.
I turned to the hubby and said something incredibly naive when they broke the news of Whitney’s death, I said “with a voice like that how can you want to run away from life?” As soon as I said it, I realized that addictions don’t discriminate for anything. It doesn’t matter if you are black, white, Asian or Latino, man or woman, young or old, straight or gay, successful or not, rich or poor, married or single, parent or not, as I continue down the list, it’s obvious that having the disease of addiction can happen to anyone, no one group is immune. It is a sobering fact. I hope that Demi gets the help that she needs, sadly it is too late for Whitney. There is nothing that I can say or write that will stop the gravy train that keeps those entertainment news shows from chugging along exploiting the death of whichever celebrity falls prey to their inner demons and addictions.
