Off The Campaign Trail: Florida Food Bank Assists Struggling Citizens, Stimulates Local Economy

What is often not understood is that when a family uses the SNAP program those food “dollars” that are newly available to that family don’t just keep demand going in the food market industry but also frees up the family’s resources to continue to pay their bills such as rent, utilities, transport and perhaps even pay down debt. No one really wants to stay in that situation, anyone who says otherwise really doesn’t understand what you have to go through to get there. It is a bird’s eye view into the candidates priorities that either they weren’t willing or that it didn’t even dawn on them to make visiting the food bank a part of their tour. Either way Romney and Gingrich haven’t put forth any sort of new plan to address the increased numbers of Americans in poverty, so far they are intent on blaming President Obama rather than put forth solutions. And for those who say that they have put forth an economic plan, both plans are based on supply-side economic theory and further deregulation of the financial sector which is precisely what got us here in the first place.

Mitt Romney Upbeat After Strong Debate, Compares Newt Gingrich To ‘Goldilocks’

Romney says”I am looking forward to debating Barack Obama. I am going to make sure that we tell the truth about Barack Obama” so far Romney has lied about President Obama’s policies with regards to Israel, Romney had manipulated President Obama’s words speaking about the economy when he quoted McCain’s aide in a political ad, Romney criticized President Obama’s decision regarding the auto bailout and then when it was successful he lied and said President Obama took his idea, Romney wasn’t exactly forthright about his financials and Romney continues to be spastic about his healthcare insurance program in MA trying to deny it even though he can’t, it is weird. His whole demeanor is not presidential and I don’t find him trustworthy. I am from MA and he wasn’t a horrible Governor and he wasn’t a great Governor, he was mediocre and that is by and large the consensus from MA.

America, Meet Saul Alinsky, the Great Man Newt Gingrich Wants You to Know

Gingrich does demonize and stigmatize quite well. He has that talent of finding the underlying fears that prey on people who are anxious and uncertain and exploiting them for his own gain. Gingrich and Romney have been very aggressive in their rhetoric against Iran and against the Palestinians. I think that the day that Israel and the Palestinian people can come together over a return to 1967 borders and a “swap” of land as past Presidents and the U.N have pushed for, then a huge obstacle to peace in the Middle East will have been removed. However I see that a Romney or a Gingrich presidency will bring us closer to another war in the Middle East, their calls for military strikes against Iran are irresponsible and I have yet to hear any talk about diplomacy and negotiations from either man. I, for one, am tired of all the talk of war and especially the war on terror, I don’t think that I am alone. We have a lot more work to do here at home, rebuilding our country to bring it up to the 21st century standards which is not something that either one has devoted anytime to in their stumping speeches, aside from Newt’s idea to colonize the moon.

SkateBoard

When I was young, around 12 or 13 I bought myself a skateboard with my own money and I loved that skateboard. I wasn't great but I was okay, I gave myself roadrash once trying to do a 360, the skateboard went one way and I went the other. That didn't stop me from riding my skateboard everyday until it was stolen and I was crushed because it was through my own negligence. Anyway when my two wanted their own skateboards, I figured that I could get back on the skateboard like the proverbial bicycle. NO. NON. NEIN. I am too old to be putting my bones in danger like that, skateboarding is for the youngins.

The hubby and I have been fans of the Underworld Vampire/Lycanthrop series since we saw the first one a few years back. There is something about vampires that appeals to us, their angst, their brooding mystery, their power and their immortality. Kate Beckinsale plays the lead character Celine and boy does she deliver in tough fighting scenes and she exudes dangerous, cool, sleek vampire attitude in spades. Needless to say while the hubby and I were extremely happy watching the movie Underworld Awakenings, the fourth installment of the Underworld movie franchise. Technically, though movie number three was dedicated to the Lycan back story which was an excellent storytelling tool to further explain the vampire/Lycan conflict and drive more story along, so essentially this movie that we just saw, was the third installment of Selene’s vampire saga. We were sitting in front of the big screen without a care in the world completely transported into the Vampire world that Celine inhabits. If you enjoyed the previous Underworld movies, you won’t be disappointed with this one.

Moving onto the next Kate Beckinsale movie that we just saw today. We went to see the action/thriller Contraband starring Mark Wahlberg and Kate Beckinsale. She plays Mark Wahlberg’s wife and she did an excellent and convincing job playing an American New Orleans native. Her principal role in the movie is to be the steady wife and mother who is used as leverage to make sure that Mark Wahlberg’s character does what the bad people want him to do. Like I said, her performance was spot on and Mark did a bang up job as well but the stress level in this movie is sky high. The hubby and I got really invested in the lives and safety of Mark and Kate’s family and so during all the dicey parts we were stressed. We left the movie theater tired, we got that pulled into the movie which is a review itself. So if you don’t mind a thrill ride, this is a movie for you.

Paul, please pray that by putting that vibe out into the universe you did not warp some cosmic sense of Karma and foist her on us in a very important and strategic position. It is bad enough to live in fear that enough people take Romney for what he is, a supply side economic believer, a proponent to keep things as they are for the wealthy and cut all the programs that offer a leg up to hard working disadvantaged people and believe that Romney has all the answers and vote him in 2012. But now to be reminded that it wouldn’t be only a GOP President that we would be saddled with but all their colleagues as well, it is almost too much to bear.
