Boston once again

Here we are in Boston once again. The hubby volunteered to attend the Municipal Government of Massachusetts weekend seminar this weekend because he is chairman of the Board of Selectboard in our town of Blandford. My daughter and I came with him to keep him company during his downtime. We were happy to come because as a family we all love Boston, it is a beautiful and vibrant city, slightly smaller than New York City yet as chockfull of sights to see and things to do as the Big Apple itself.

The hubby has discovered, awhile ago, the best way to enjoy the hotel experience. He became a most valued member of Holiday Inn almost two decades ago. He has since then, graduated to ambassador level, what this means for us, is that at any Holiday Inn establishment, my husband is instantly upgraded to a suite and all the amenities are free. The best part of this, is the fact that the Intercontinental Hotels are in the Holiday Inn umbrella organization, so I am writing this post from our suite in the Intercontinental Hotel on Atlantic Avenue just down the street from South Station.

We’ll be here until tomorrow, maybe stay until Sunday, who knows because since we are staying for free due to the extraordinary amount of mileage that the hubby has racked up over the years, we might as well have a nice weekend all together as a family. Our daughter is reminding us daily that soon she will be off to college and we should appreciate as much time with her as possible. Our son has been out of the house for the past few years so he is home babysitting the dogs, doing us a favor while we visit Boston with his little sister. He is a good young man, our son.

What I Love About My Home Town

The Old Fire Station, Alresford, Hampshire

I love the fact that I love right across the street from the Post Office, there is never a line, Sue the Postmaster is my friend and so is Nikki who works there as well. Across the Main road there is the Blandford Fire Station and right next door to that is the Blandford congregational church. My house is safe from fire and gets good vibes from the prayers across the street. Good stuff all around.

Mitt Romney Booed For Waffling On Releasing Tax Returns (VIDEO)

Why can’t Romney be more like his father? His father produced twelve years of tax returns when he wanted to run for President, there wasn’t any legal requirement to do so at the time. It seems to me that Romney, the father, wanted to show the American people that he was aboveboard with his tax history and that he took his contributions to our country seriously as a tax payer. Romney, the son, apparently wasn’t standing near his father’s knee at the time and didn’t learn a life lesson from his father’s actions. I would like it if Romney would release more than just one year’s worth of tax returns, I know that President Obama released six years of tax returns in 2008 and has released every year’s worth since then. What has Romney worried? Americans are not jealous of wealth and everyone knows that. We worship our billionaires and everyone secretly thinks that lotto has their name on it, we might be a little ticked off if we see that Romney has been taxed at a much lower rate than us ordinary workers but other than that, we don’t begrudge him his millions at all. We all aim to join him at the 1% table.

Rick Santorum Hits Newt Gingrich For His ‘Grandiosity’ During Republican Debate (VIDEO)

Santorum will never be President but I’m glad that he is still part of the field of nominees, he is reminding the American people just how unethical, calculating and immoral Gingrich was during his term as Speaker of the House. Santorum is also pointing out, very convincingly, that Gingrich has issues with delusions of grandeur. I would argue that Gingrich suffers from a narcissistic personality disorder and left unchecked it has led him to suffer many difficulties in the past, all of his own making.I wouldn’t want that type of person in the White House.

Wow, that was quite nice. I am sure that Michelle will be asking to be serenaded this upcoming Valentine’s day. I know that if my husband could sing like that, that is what I would be asking for. The President needs to be at the top of his game in terms of what ideas and policy suggestions he will be presenting during the State of the Union address to the American people. I believe that he needs to present his long term objectives for the next four years so that his vision stands clearly and in direct opposition to Romney’s, Gingrich’s and Paul’s desires to simply bring America back to the past without any guidelines to the future.

Frustration with moderators

censorship, postaday2012

Huffington is self-moderated by their in-house comment moderators. I think that these moderators are long-time registered users just like me and recently I have had three comments in total not published which annoys me. I might disagree with essentially all republican view points but I am never rude, nasty or foul-mouthed with any of my critiques. I also do not call anyone names, I will call their policies bad for our country, but I do not name call.

I am voicing my frustration with the censoring of my comments because when I comment on an article, it isn’t only to express myself but it is also to get feedback from my fellow commentators. When they do not allow my comments to be published, it upsets me, especially when I come to Word Press and see that I didn’t write anything inflammatory, an example is the comment I made in response to the article, “Progressives, Obamabots by Bob Cesca, yet for some reason someone chose to block its publication. I reread the comment and I can’t find anything offensive at all in the comment so why would someone block it from being published? I am going to write something to the powers that be over at Huffington saying that a difference of opinion is not a reason for not allowing someone’s point of view to be shared with the others. As soon as I explain my disappointment in indiscriminate censorship, I know that I will feel better because at least I did something by speaking up.
