In this age of video and digital media, it is very hard to walk back from an untruth or to argue a fictitious point when you have the hard evidence in front of you. That being said, you have the GOP with their media allies Fox news deliberately trampling on the truth and fact and then crying foul or liberal manipulation whenever they get hit really hard with it on the head and there is nowhere else to turn.I don’t know if it is the case that they either truly do believe what they say or that they have such little respect for the rest of us that they just don’t care. Or they have seen that it has been working for them, they are still in power, still derailing the economy, still getting the rich their opportunities to be the “job creators”, and still getting elected. Either way it makes me angry and I wish that it would make enough other people angry as well beyond the protestors and the occupiers so that this nonsense can stop influencing our political, economic and social lives because the GOP is aiming for the complete package for our country, transforming it into their image of a social conservative country unless we come together and say we do not accept your narrow vision.

Grumpy Conservatives Survey Post-Iowa Scene

The only thing that the Iowa caucus has accomplished is to finally show that the GOP as a party has completed its devolution as a relevant force in our political system and our society as whole. The GOP has sold its soul to such a tiny sector of what makes up America that it shot itself in the foot. It is similar to what happens with inbreeding, ultimately the desire to keep like with like results in an imperfect and frail offspring who can’t compete with the more robust out there. The GOP can’t even produce a candidate that has a new vision, every single one of them hearkens back to the past when civil rights weren’t guaranteed for everyone, when the E.P.A created by Nixon didn’t exist, what is funny is that the GOP never bring up the good old days when unions were strong and executive pay didn’t outweigh a worker’s pay by 200%, or that financial regulation kept bubbles from occurring, they don’t mention that.

Bitter cold in the Northeast

easy chairs, jack russell, leashes, warm interior, woolen hat

This morning I woke up, the house didn’t feel colder than usual, I knew that the evening news from last night said that today was going to be colder so as I got Rex and Jack ready with their leashes and Jack’s coat, I made sure to put on two layers under my coat and my woolen hat. Our outside thermometer doesn’t work because the wire was chewed through by a certain Jack Russell who shall remain nameless, nevertheless when we got outside it was cold enough to make my lungs ache. The three of us walked our usual loop but I have to say the three of us did not dawdle one iota, Rex was on a mission to take care of his business and Jack did what he could but the number one thing on his mind was to get home to the nice warm interior of his home. Rex and Jack love their home, they love their various couches and easy chairs, days this cold are not fit for man or beast. When I went onto my computer and entered the Internet, I immediately looked at the forecast and the screen said 11 degrees, my nose still red from being outside agreed with the temperature reading. Luckily for myself, Rex and Jack tomorrow is going to warm up to a balmy 26 degrees, hooray for us! Tomorrow mornings walk won’t be the torturous chore that it was today, we’ll be very appreciative, we might even skip during our walk around the park.

Fireplace

My son bought me the warmest slippers in the world three years ago, these and my trusty plaid wool bathrobe and I am toasty warm. To put me over the top in terms of coziness is a great roaring fire in our fireplace. On these cold winter nights, I'll be lounging on my couch in my plaid bathrobe, slippers nearby reading my IPad in front of the fire. That is my winter evening staying warm.
