What Boehner and his fellow GOP house members fail to grasp is that our economy, though showing tiny signs of growing, is still in a precarious state. Come January 1 2012, when the paychecks are smaller and the unemployment benefits disappear, that will result in a lot of money yanked out of our consumerist economy and demand will decrease once more. Moreover with Europe still showing signs of an impending recession due to their own currency troubles and China dealing with its own real estate bubble, now is not the time for the GOP to show their unflagging devotion to a class that can afford a 1.5% surtax on their income, and the saddest part is, that isn’t even the issue, the house is saying that the time table and the manner in which the payroll tax cut is offset are both unacceptable and thus too bad working people, your paychecks will be smaller but never fear the “job creators” will be fine and that is what matters.
