The Real Attack on the Spirit of Christmas Comes From the Right Wing

It is very difficult to reconcile love of money with love of Jesus. I remember visiting the Vatican and feeling sad that the priceless objects gathered under the roof of the Catholic church were being admired by countless visitors daily and yet there was such abject poverty throughout the world. Martin Luther when he severed all ties with the Catholic church, the major point of contention was, in his estimation, the absolute wrongful nature of the tithe that the Catholic church demanded from the poor. Martin Luther had a huge issue over the love of wealth and power that defined the church. I think that Martin Luther would now extend his gaze across the Christian right movement and have the same criticisms of their hierarchy. I do find it amusing that they worship at the altar of Ayn Rand as well as Jesus, the polar opposite of each other and these “smart” people don’t find it disturbing in the least. Amazing.

Reid Won’t Appoint Negotiators To Hammer Out Payroll Tax Cut Deal

Boehner is trying to save face because he does not want to admit that he cannot lead his colleagues, that he follows their direction instead. What is especially infuriating is that neither the house nor the senate GOP politicians acknowledge the pain that the rest of the working poor are feeling by accepting a tiny surcharge tax on the wealthy to pay for the payroll tax cut. What the GOP is essentially saying to the rest of us, is that tax cuts for the wealthy do not need to be paid for by sacrificing elsewhere other than adding to our deficit so that we all pay for it in the end. However, tax cuts for the working poor need to be paid for because why, we don’t contribute? Have the politicians forgotten that even though we are poor, we are the driving force of our consumerist society? Our economy is suffering because through lack of jobs and living wages there is a lack of demand. Until we right the boats and have all the boats bobbing in the sea of work and demand, our economy is going to continue to be in a drought situation.

Do you think that they’ll find the God particle?

When I read the question, my first impulse was “I thought that they had already found it”. Apparently, I was mistaken. In all seriousness, I think that the good scientists will discover the God particle, man does have the talent and relentless drive to aim for the stars so it will eventually be done. Just look at the marvels that Leonardo da Vinci and Jules Verne came up with. Who would have thought that back then, what was in their imaginations would have ever attained reality, but those ideas eventually did become actual inventions.

Do I worry about it? No I don’t, the God particle, if found or rather when found, will expand our understanding of the universe and that would be nice. I have recently become aware of a scientific school of thought that combines faith and science, I believe that it is called bio-centrism where energy, call it spiritual energy, is everywhere and co-exists with scientific principles. What I really like about this principle is that it includes all possibilities rather than exclude anything.

I would rather keep an open mind because the possibility is always more exciting than closed doors.

Delphi (XLV)

If you must lie, there had better be the greatest reason in the world because if it is done to someone who trusts you, the consequences will be big and all detrimental to your relationship. So, I will say with confidence that it is never okay to lie.
