One Percenter Calls For ‘Enlightened Self Interest’ To Avert Real Class Warfare

Mr. Berger seems to understand innately what Elizabeth Warren has been saying during her campaigning, that the wealthy didn’t achieve their wealth in a vacuum. We are all in this together, the occupiers aren’t calling for handouts. They are calling for a level playing field, the restoration of true opportunity and possibility. When the casino-like behavior of Wall Street and big banks broke the economy into pieces, they had the government, us the tax-payers bail them out, and then they had the Fed. hand them 7.7 trillion in secret loans. That is not being, all of us in it together, that is us the middle class and lower classes subsidizing the wealthy sector of the economy. It isn’t right and I don’t think that it is economically sustainable for our country.

Payroll Tax Cut Extension Rejected In Senate Vote

02 Friday Dec 2011

I view the payroll tax cut as a deal with the devil and I just wish, for the protection of the social security program, it had not been adopted. If there could have been another way to help the middle class rather than decreasing the funding of social security I think that it would have been a better strategy. The payroll tax reverting back to its original percentage isn’t an increase, it is simply going back to its original rate. Similarly, bringing back Clinton rates for the top bracket isn’t a true tax increase, it simply goes back to its original rates. I find fault with the GOP zeroing in federal employment as a drag on the economy, another example of short sighted economic policies, the more federal employees put onto unemployment means less consumer dollars in the economy. An employee is a job creator, middle class workers are the biggest job creators we have. A wealthy man wrote an op-ed for a publication calling for increased taxes on his class and he said the the middle class worker/consumer were the job creators not he, an entrepreneur/venture capitalist. Until the political class starts focusing on addressing the biggest problem in our country, putting Americans back to work with living wages and stop coddling the wealthy, we are not going to recover and the wealthy might start eventually feeling pain but by the time that occurs, the middle class will be radically diminished.

The Best and Worst Parts of the Holiday Season

Mall Interior

My most favorite things about the holiday season are the baking and cooking involved.I love those two parts.

My least favorite thing is the shopping experience, the stress associated with trying to get the right present, the crowds, that is the worst part because I am claustrophobic.

What is your strategy for life?

I don’t really have a strategy, I just try to live each day to the best of my ability. Is each day a success, no not really. There are days where I am depressed, sickly and sometimes stressed. I try to mask it from my family and friends and there are days that I’m successful doing it but there are those days where I become snippy. I hate it when I get snippy because it is the worst part of my personality that gets aired and it makes me feel worse.

I guess that you can say that my strategy is to try and stay even-tempered no matter what happens. Conflict makes me upset and I try to stay away from it as much as possible. It is something that I need to work on, I know, I don’t really know how. One of my strategies in life is to write, now that I have discovered writing, it helps me explore parts of myself and it’s a new way of expressing myself creatively that is different from baking and cooking.

Is a strategy really necessary in life? I think that it depends on the type of personality you have. I’m not an organizer by nature, I have always been happy with adventure and adapting off the cuff or by the seat of my pants. Maybe that is why I don’t really have a strategy or a strategy that you hear about on t.v. such as How to Live Your Best Life aside from trying to live each day as well as I can, I don’t have a strategy. I’m fine with that.
