Dumb by Design: Gingrich’s Lobotomy of Congress and Today’s Dysfunction

I can’t remember his name but he blogs at the Huffpo and has written a book on shared lateral systems of power, economies and informatio­n and its applicatio­ns in our world. It stinks getting old, memory is the first to go, I digress. His insights are the perfect tools and lens to view the barely functionin­g power source that is our congress. His book was published before the OWS manifestat­ions but I think that the two go hand in hand, because the American occupy movements, the Spanish movements and the Arab spring are all social media driven and lateral informatio­n sharing systems. They are also, with the general assemblies and the spokes councils, adopting the lateral power sharing systems. This could truly be how we mutate our definition of governing in the future.

Herman Cain ‘Reassessing’ 2012 Candidacy

Herman Cain has already impacted the race whether he stays or not because he has, with his 9-9-9 tax plan, pushed other candidates into the flat tax discussion­. I know that our tax code is complicate­d and the simplicity of Cain’s idea is vastly appealing but I would feel better if the discussion were held with more intelligen­ce and integrity with an eye for more fairness than just tax cuts for the so called “job creators”. We are dying here on the low rungs of the income ladder and it seems that all the sacrifices are falling on us. Our economy is more like drip down financial gains and deluge economic pain and sacrifice. We can’t afford the republican economic prescripti­on any longer.

Yes and I have two children, they are old children in relation to how young I feel. I should rephrase that, I am too young to have an adult child and an almost adult child.

I have a regret, I have written about it before. I should have gone to Turkey when I had the opportunity. It was 23 years ago during my backpacking adventure with my little sister through Europe. We had met up with 3 lovely Australians Jennifer, Natalie and Fionna in Italy and we 5 had a lovely time visiting Florence and Rome.

In Rome Jennifer, Fionna and Natalie ran into their 3 Canadian friends, John, Greg and Bill and they introduced us to them. When my sister and I parted ways with the girls to go off to Corfu, Greece I made tentative plans to meet up with the boys in Pelekas on Corfu. As it happened, my sister and I found the boys in Pelekas and we spent a blissful week on Corfu. On the way to Corfutown, the boys asked us to accompany them to Istanbul, Turkey. I was so tempted but my little sister really wanted to get back to the south of France so I declined the invitation.

I have regretted that decision especially after reading the illustrious history of Istanbul and its culinary delights. One of these days I will redress that regret.
