German Shepard

I don't have work or school but whenever I'm done with my daily reading and writing and whatever else that needs doing, I always take my two dogs, Rex the German Shepard, and Jack, the Jack Russell Terrier for their walk. It's their second walk of the day, around 2:30 p.m. Their third walk is in the evening at around 6:30 p.m.

The Flat-Tax Fraud, and the Necessity of a Truly Progressive Tax

That is it, I have decided that we need to push for a mandatory tax course in high school so that all young adults, the future voters and the future leaders will at least understand what most Americans don’t seem to grasp. The danger of the call for a flat tax is the simplicity of it, an acquaintance of mine was saying I’m voting for Cain, he gets it. We can abolish the I.R.S and get rid of all the accountants, Happy Days. I looked at him as if he had two heads, I asked him if he was serious and he said he was. I turned away in fright because he didn’t understand that his taxes would only go up. I was in fright because there are quite a few of “him” out there who don’t read before they vote. This is why I think that a mandatory course in taxes would be appropriate in high school, something that everyone needs to learn about.

Joe Walsh: John Boehner ‘Doesn’t Want Someone Like Me Around’

I’m a progressive so I would never vote for him because I find him to be utterly clueless of what needs to be done to get us back up off the ground. I also find him to be very disrespectful to the office of the Presidency. Barack Obama is our President and he deserves to be treated with respect. This double standard with the GOP as a whole is really tiresome. We were reminded ad-nauseum as progressives that to say anything that was counter to what President Bush said was un-American and unpatriotic. So many of President Obama’s proposals are ideas that were generated by the GOP themselves but now they are verboten because President Obama suggested them. I know that the left has been angry with the President for continuously going to the GOP for common ground but perhaps it was a strategy to show all of America that the GOP is only here to say NO to him and to us. The GOP is really not interested in making our lives better as long as President Obama is in office, only when the GOP wins are they willing to do anything and that will be to continue to make the rich richer and our country more polluted. Oh wonderful.

As War in Iraq Ends, Suits and Jobs Are What We Need, Not Yellow Ribbons and Unemployment Checks

President Obama has kept the soldiers in the forefront of his mind both while they are being deployed and when they are back home re-entering society. He has sent not only the American Jobs act with pieces of it dedicated to hiring vets but also other bills designed to help them with the transition back to civilian life. What really gets me about the GOP is that they have made it a mission to privatize war which really undercuts the funding of our troops, the private contractors make so much more than our soldiers yet supposedly without the private contractors we wouldn’t be as successful.I think that if we can’t successfully do something like war without private contractors than perhaps we should be asking ourselves do we really need to be doing it in the first place? I am not speaking about Libya, I am speaking about Iraq and Afghanistan, two wars that have cost us unbelievable sums of money and a lot of American and native lives.

Would you rather have the first or last word?

last word, postaday2011, talking

I suppose it would depend on who I was speaking with and what type of conversations were being had. If I were participating in a debate and the subject matter was something that I was passionate about, I’m fairly certain, that I would be aiming for the last word. I have an example for you. Today, an acquaintance of mine said that he was all for Herman Cain’s 9-9-9 tax plan. I was quite surprised because he is an independent contractor, a small business man. His position was that he loved the simplicity of it, gone the I.R.S and gone the need for accountants. I told him that with that simplicity, be prepared to pay not 9 percent, but 15 percent state sales tax, not to mention, the loss in payroll tax revenue for retirement purposes. I also pointed out that the upper tier of income earners were going to benefit from the absence of capital gains taxes. This loss in revenue was going to increase our long-term deficits. I’m not sure if I got the last word because he beat a hasty retreat, running off the another client’s house.

Otherwise, in general conversation, I enjoy the first word and letting it go where it will with participation by everyone present. Conversations should be enjoyable and easy. It ought to be fun, start a conversation with a word or a phrase and seeing at the end of the conversation how far off topic you have all veered.

Last words are about proving something, first words are about beginnings.
