How I'd Spend a 28-Hour Day

I'd sleep, I'm really tired today and so I may just turn in extra early this evening and grab a few more hours of sleep. Sleep is quite under-rated in our society and I know that I surely need mine.

Senator Graham can afford to sit there and lie about the state of affairs and how President Obama is to blame for everything because no one on any of those Sunday morning talk shows (they aren’t worthy anymore to be called news programs) challenges him, asks him to qualify his statement or back it up and the democrats are lousy with messaging and public relations. The only shows who stand up for progressiv­es, take down the GOP and show point by point that the GOP lies, they also have facts to back them up, are our two award winning comedians, Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert. They are the two shows where you can get the political news and no that there is a bias but it is for the American people not the politician­s.

Millionaire Tax: White House Talking Points Go After Republicans

About time, we will see how far this goes and how shrill the GOP can get over this. Just one thing about the phrase living within our means, when I see that phrase, the one that the GOP fall all over themselves saying when they are talking about cutting our retirement programs (social security) our public health insurance program (medicare & medicaid), I want to see it applied to our military spending and our military involvemen­t all around the world. If the GOP really wants to live within our means then I would suggest re-evaluat­ing our insane defense spending. If we are too poor to take care of our own citizenshi­p than we have no business putting our noses where it is often not wanted.

Taxing the Rich, the Obama Way

I know that there is an psychologi­cal ambivalenc­e towards taxing the rich to high even within people who will never inhabit that lofty class way up there in the sky. Psychologi­sts have done studies to find out why there is a segment of our population that will vote for agenda’s that are clearly against their self-inter­est and that is one of the reasons, this crazy notion that increasing the tax on the wealthy would be bad because what if I win lotto, I don’t want to pay at a higher rate like 65%. It is crazy but even with President Obama’s low ball the GOP is all up in arms calling it class warfare that feeds into that psychologi­cal mindset of don’t mess with my dream and when the GOP double down with taxing the wealthy is taxing the “job creators”, they have tapped into a vein of doubt towards the democratic strategy of trying to get the wealthy to pay their fair share.

What person, real or fictional, would you share a foxhole with on the battlefied?

First of all, my choice is limited by the person’s size, they can’t be big, tall perhaps, but not big, because I’m claustrophobic and that is a huge factor in the choice of person. A foxhole is tight and I need to be able to function and I’m assuming that myself and the person that I pick will be in a potentially dangerous situation such as a battlefield. With that in mind, I would be looking for someone calm in a crisis and quick thinking. Johnny Depp keeps popping up in my mind. Captain Jack Sparrow has been great on the big screen in several tight situations, he is entertaining and easy on the eyes, I could do worse. If you are in a foxhole in the midst of a battlefield, why not be with someone inclined to be silly and spontaneous as well. Captain Jack with his skill in guns and swords plus his remarkable amount of luck, I would be in good hands and good company. Captain Jack would force me to stay on my toes, keep alert and be prepared for unexpected which are all attributes in a combat zone. I’m very satisfied with my choice. Good times in the foxhole.
