The Longest I'd Want to Live without Internet

I rail against our dependence on the Internet all the time and now I am embarrassed to say that I would really miss writing on the Internet with Plinky and WordPress if I were denied daily access. If there was a way to mail it in, like in the olden days, than I would be okay but I don't think that would be an option. So, yes, I would miss my Internet access.

Job Creation: Obama, Government Can Do Much More, Economists Say

I hope and pray that President Obama will call for a huge infrastruc­ture project on his jobs speech, the constructi­on industry has been hit extremely hard and that industry when working produces a great ripple effect throughout the surroundin­g local economies. That is what we are looking for, jobs re-emergin­g in communitie­s that have been hit hard from the housing debacle. What is frustratin­g is that the GOP campaign thread is locked on a continuous loop, “no federal spending, deficits bad” What makes me so angry is that the GOP did not care about bankruptin­g “the children’s future” with the 2 rounds of tax cuts, and the 2 wars. Yet when we are in need of some serious stimulus, which the first did work by the way, they are crying about deficits. I don’t have the space to lay out how illogical their thinking is when it comes to economics. All I can say is their petty hypocrisy makes me incredibly angry.

Obama Halts EPA Regulation On Smog Standards

Why oh why! Why are you buying into the business and GOP rhetoric that businesses aren’t hiring because of E.P.A regulation­s and an uncertain tax environmen­t? Businesses are not hiring because there is no demand because we don’t have jobs. Cutting federal spending as the republican­s wanted you to do, produced nothing in terms of jobs. President Obama, I know that your job is the hardest that any former president has had to go through, what with the racism and the overt disrespect­, obstructio­n and sabotage. But I am asking, please stand strong for the environmen­t especially the tar sands, please do not allow for the permit on the keystone pipeline to go through.

A good dinner party isn’t only about the food but also about the conversation. Lately, the political scene on the right has been dominated by a very Christian bent and I would be interested to explore religious questions more fully. For this reason, I would love to have Mohammed, Jesus, the Dali Lama, Buddha, Mary Magdalene and Confucius as my guests. I would ask them how they feel about different religions and how they can co-exist without all the hatred and judgement. I would ask them if they found the whole “my religion is the right one and yours isn’t”, distressing and basically besides the point. I would also ask if mankind missed the whole point of God and love? I envision an education to the highest degree listening to the conversation between these luminaries. The philosophy and spirituality of my guests would be an inspiration.

I’m sure that my guest list is unoriginal in the extreme and I don’t care, these guests would be really important in explaining the whole religion thing and when and how it all went wrong. God and religion should not be in the same vicinity as violence, hatred and bloodshed. I would really love to throw my dinner party but I know that my guests would be a no-show. Boo on that.
