Nectarines

I am torn, this is hard. My first thought was toilet paper, then I went to paper towels, then I went to soap, then I went to fresh fruit. Now it's up in the air between toilet paper and fresh fruit. Weird, I know.

Democrats To Launch Payroll Tax Cut Extension Campaign

I will admit that this payroll tax cut makes me nervous for the safety of social security and it doesn’t matter if it is from the employer side or the employee side, because any cut makes the self-financing program that much weaker. I understand the cuts from the employee side do put more money in his/her pocket and that will have a stimulative effect on the economy, as making it cheaper to hire someone could also work if both are in play at the same time. I still don’t like it, because give the GOP any ammo against social security and they will run with it. That said, this is an excellent illustration of how the GOP only cares about the “haves”. The tax cuts for the rich which costs us as a nation, at least 1.4 trillion, but that is okay. They are saying that the tax cuts for people who are struggling will cost 120 billion and that is too expensive. Their excuse is that not all tax cuts are equal. You interpret that as you will.

Obama Administration Moves Plan To Ax Hundreds Of Regulations

On paper this makes sense, since in reality just because it is a regulation, that doesn’t automatically mean it is a good one. I just hope that whomever is charged with the triage has the foresight and the objectivity necessary to keep the people and environment in the forefront as opposed to do what is expedient. We have all seen from past environmental accidents that bottom line profits do not provide incentives to corporations to be proactive in their treatment of safety and environmental issues, regulations are needed to provide boundaries. These boundaries are very important in many people’s opinins and I just hope that the Administration keeps the in mind.

VIKING STOVE

When we are together, the kids are seated at the counter island in our kitchen, my husband and I are on the other side, he standing at the counter and myself busy at the stovetop assembling the plates for everyone. The three are usually the ones who do all the talking, I mostly listen and/or laugh. A common meal would be spaghetti carbonara or roasted chicken and string beans sauteed with garlic and olive oil or the Thai dish called Larb. Either way, there is a lot of talking and eating.
