From a progressive viewpoint, there are so many reasons not to be happy. One, the progressive budget plan was never offered as an option or mentioned to the American people. Two, the democrats and President Obama never argued or even successfully framed the narrative in terms of how the great GOP experiment of the early 21st century only helped two groups, the mega wealthy and big business at the almost criminally painful expense to all the rest of us. That is plutocratic politics, a government for the wealthy, by wealthy and of the wealthy. The last time I checked that is not what America is all about and the founding fathers were so against that very idea. When are the democrats going to realize that when you frame it like that, there are so many more of us painfully struggling just to make ends meet, we outnumber the fortunate few. It does make a difference, seriously.
