My father was a huge influence on my life, he encouraged my love of reading, politics, history and debating. He also influenced my work ethic and respect for any and every job. Good hard work is something to be admired, no matter who you are and where you came from. I miss him very much.

All this talk of privatizing public services such as water water systems and parking meters, privatizing social security and medicare, shrinking government to levels that were from the 1960’s, all these ideas would have all of our founding fathers rolling over in their graves. They all had such huge distrust of concentrated wealth and companies taking advantage of the people. I see quite a few comments that draw a correlation between a private household paying its bills and the government paying its own bills, the two are completely different from each other. One is beholden to the dollar, the other is the creator of the dollar. Both are judged by credit agencies, the government still has AAA rating but that may not last, the private household is judged by how well they control their debt. I don’t know how the GOP has successfully spun the spending spree over to the democrats and Obama’s side. The GOP are the kings of spending, especially deficit spending. You have to hand it to them, they are also the kings of political messaging. It boggles the mind.

Talk about bullying, the GOP is betting on President Obama’s reason and logic and using it against him. It reminds me a those cheesy B rated movies where the villains are so dangerous because they don’t care, innocents can get hurt, it doesn’t faze them in the least, as long as they get their money and power. Sound familiar? The GOP in the starring role of our melodrama, the debt ceiling. They speak about being christian, where is there any evidence that they actually follow the teachings of Jesus? All their policies assault the very livelihood of the less than fortunate, they worship at the altar of the Koch brothers. The GOP has their own version of over the top spending and that is tax cuts and tax breaks and subsidies. All those things amounts to money spent by the GOP that goes into the coffers of the corporations and the wealthy. We have to wake up and stop this craziness, it is really inflicting a lot of pain on the most people. It isn’t right.

SkateBoard

Barbie dolls, the Cher doll, there was a doll with blond hair on one side and dark hair on the other. Skateboards were big, Othello board game and Connect 4 were also big. I had a skateboard that rocked, I loved my skateboard, I did a lot of damage to myself with that skateboard but that didn't stop me. I also loved but didn't have the board games Othello and Connect 4. The dolls I could take them or leave them.
