A lot of things make me smile. I like smiling, the way your face feels as your lips curl up pushing up your cheeks to meet your eyes creating those dreaded laugh lines of which I have many. I am indeed fortunate in that I am surrounded by an abundance of people and pets that make me smile. We recently adopted Jack a Jack Russell Terrier puppy. He makes me smile, he will be 6 months on January 5th which is Wednesday and he weighs in proudly around 10 lbs. So, you see he is just a little bit of cuteness that you just want to hug and squeeze. I know that I sound all crazy gaga over him but his presence in our household has brightened up the whole entire family; myself, my husband, my son, my daughter and our 9 year old German Shepard Rex. We were all mourning the loss of our 2 other dogs who died within 2 weeks of each other. Marshall the 16 year old Black Lab from old age and Tuck our one of a kind Beagle to stomach cancer. My husband and I were thinking that perhaps with the kids not really being kids any more, we should call it a day with all the responsibility of having dogs since Rex is a big dog and he is 9 so we probably have 3 or 4 more years and then that would be it. The mopiness had however ,surrounded us for too long and was getting too thick, so we took a deep breath and decided to take a leap of faith and get another dog. We went to the rescue shelters and toured the internet and nothing caught me until one day I was cruising the Jack Russell adoption sites and lo and behold there was this picture of a little Jack Russell sitting next to a cowboy boot and he was only half the size of the boot. That picture put such a big smile on my face with the accompanying aunhhhh he’s so cute. I kept going back to that picture as we were going back and forth about different dogs and what we wanted and my reaction was always the same; the same big smile and the same aunhhhh he’s so cute. Well, I showed the picture to the rest of the family and they all had my reaction so needless to say Jack was adopted. When we went to pick him up at the airport we were nervous but as soon as we got him in our arms we all fell in love and we have been smiling at him and with him. So I definitely have something that makes me smile and that is Jack our new puppy. He hasn’t replaced our 2 other dogs but he brings me joy in his own way and I really appreciate every smile he gives me.
